Another one learning...

So i wanted to learn how to ride so my buddy let me use his ninja 250 in this large parking lot near my house...I didn't stall or fall at all so now id like to get rolling with getting a bike of my own

now ill be honost after about an hour of riding i was getting bored with the power out of the little 250 but he offered to sell me the bike for ~500. Even though its small as hell and kinda boring, would it be a good idea for me to ride this for like a year in order to get used to it or just pass and get a 600cc bike of some sort?

YES... learn to control a bike.

learning to ride is all about handling... not speed and power. Take a look at watch the races of the 125cc and 250cc bikes before big bikes come out at most Motogp events(except leguna i think). Those 125's and 250's require perfect form and control as they weight nothing and dont have a ton of power.

learning on a light bike with less power is much smarter if you have the chance. I learned on a 250cc dirt bike which helped me a ton. Get used to it for a bit and just sell it for what you payed.

If you were closer i would buy the bike when you were done for my dad... i need to find a bike for him to pass his test on. No way am i putting him on mine. First time he took the permit test he got 11 out of 20 wrong! He answered for one question that when raining you should only slow down with the rear brake... wtf... /rant
