Ok biker boyz...I need your help..inside please

Well,

The time has come I am contemplating getting a bike. I've been riding dirt bikes for a while and feel comfortable on one. I am looking at a sport bike because harley's are just a little too heavy for my taste. Anyway, what's a good entry level sport bike? I looked at the ninja 500R mainly because it's cheap. But it's kinda dorky lookin IMHO. Like it's from the 80's. I like the look for the R6, the Honda CBR600 F4i, and the Suzuki GSXR 600. I guess the main question is, should I go with a 600cc bike for my first sport bike? Or should I go with the 498cc 500R. I know I got friends in here so I can trust you guys will steer me in the right direction.

yah go for a 600cc. anything lower feels like a bus. any of the the usuals honda, suzuk, yamaha are equivalent just look different. for the 06's you really cant go wrong. im a yamaha fan, bikes been great, love how it moves.. the only decision you would haveta make is what looks better in your eye.

go with a 600... i wouldnt recommened a pre 04 gsxr though as they are tanks in my own opinion. Cant go wrong with the 04+ gsxr, 03+ r6, 01+honda f4i or the RR (03+ i believe)... also the pre fuel injection bikes arnt bad at all either but i would get a fuel injected bike that i lested above. Go to some dealers and sit on the bikes and pic the one you like the best as they all sit differently. Power wise they will all be about the same so pick what feel you like and such...

Thanks guys. I'll be shopping around this week a bit. I'll keep y'all posted. Oh, and what would you reccomend as far as new or used? What should I look for in a used bike?

I still like to say a SV is a good bike, and they look pretty good. Brians gixxer is for sale u kno :smt023

you should just drag one of us out with you to look at one with you since were close enough to ya.

but usually look at chain for no lube/rust/stretched, sprockets for wear on the teeth, if it looks pointed then its time for a new one. check wheels for straightness and or dents. tires, flat spot in the middle means its an old tire and they do alot of straight driving, or alot of burnouts, check the underside of the tail for rubber. front fork seals if they are leaking or not, bounce on the front forks to make sure they dont clunk. throttle, twist it open and make sure it twists back on its own. if you have someone to ride it have them go thru the gears normally and under wot to make sure they dont kick outta gear(older r6's had this problem, as did my F3) and that the clutch feels ok and doesnt slip.

do yourself a favor in the long run and check all the bolts and nuts holdin everything together and make sure they are all there and match, i had that problem. check fairings for rash, u'll be able to tell if he dropped it in the driveway or dropped it at 40 mph.

thats about all i can think of for now, just keep in mind sport bikes arnt bought to putz around town in. its like the really hot skank you see at the club, u kno shes been round the block numerous times, but u still want a ride.
