if u've never ridden b4... definitely start off on a dirtbike for awhile til u get the hang of things...... however if ur just starting street riding get a used bike.... ur pretty much guaranteed to drop it or fuck it up somehow... n a learners bike is the way to go......

the main thing ive heard wen ur pickin out a bike is try it on for size.... sit on it.. see if you like how you sit in it cuz bikes differ brand to brand... and most of all dont overestimate ur engine size.... dont get a 1000 if ur just doin city riding and just starting to learn......

also make sure u read the sticky in this section about stuff to do in case of a crash its something EVERYONE shood know :smt023

alright what price range are you looking at? kinda an important part... 1-3k? 3-5k? 5-7k?

next what are your expectations of the bike? race? daily rider? distance trips?

What is your experience? any street? any dirt? have a Motorcycle endorsement? ever been on a bike?

What is your driving record like? if you have a bad one insurance is going to be very expensive not to mention it reflects how you drive...

hayabusa is how its spelled.......

go for a honda cbr600f2. maybe a cbr600f3 if one is in your price range. hondas are tanks, from what i hear. since im sure you don't plan on stunting it, go with whatever feels good, and don't get a 750+cc motorcycle. remember: wear gear(at least a helmet gloves and a jacket), take the msf, ride careful, invest in frame sliders, and watch for other people, you are smaller on a bike and harder to spot.

also, if insurance will end up being a problem(bad driving record) go for a ninja 500.

i would look into a the Honda CBR600F4, older Suzuki GSXR600, or a older Yamaha r6... you are going to get about the same power out of all of them. Other then power it comes down to what one you think looks best and feels the best to sit in.

The older bikes are carb'd and they tend to be not as reliable and each have their own problems (older R6 has a 2nd gear problem for example). i would try to find between a 98-2002 bike... Start looking now as bikes go for more during the warmer seasons...

yah stick to a car man, that attitude will get you killed. speaking from someone who rides with a huge amount of caution and doesnt mess around. if you try to fake yourself out saying you really want to ride, ul end up hurt. you get a bike for certain reasons, and the one u stated is the exact reason you dont get a bike. im just lookin out for ya man, its one thing to actually want one and a totally different one once u have one and get some miles under belt. the bikes previously mentioned are great bikes. i bought brand new so what do i know. i never rode a day in my life :smt045 ...if u do get a bike, ride right or it will show u who's boss real quik

So true Jay. Here is the thing. A bike weights around 300lbs and has 100-120hp to the wheels. With a 160lb rider that is nearly 1hp to 4 lbs... a 300hp Trans Am is about 1hp to 12lbs...

That is a HUGE power to weight ratio. Now my next question is what is the most powerfull car you have owned? Not that you have driven. My reason for this is you need to understand how to control power and not abuse it. If i had bought my bike after owning my jeep i would be dead right now. With my Trans Am I learned to control the power and realized how much trouble it could get me into. Im not trying to lecture you. I am trying to nearly point out how dangerous bikes are. The drivers around you are bad, but for the best chances at living you need to be the best rider you can be. Just as a little fact your life expectancy on a bike is considered to be about 6 months according to your ins. company...

If you do get a bike do it the right way. First before anything take the MSF course where you ride their bikes. This will give you a good feeling for motorcycles and help you decide if its your thing. It will also get you your motorcycle license. From this point you will want to start looking at bikes to find one you like. Next invest in your life and get a Leather Jacket, Leather Gloves, over ankle boots, and a good helmet. This is the last part you want to go cheap with as you will be living with your body the rest of your life... so what is an extra $100 or $200?

Most of all please be safe as i really dont want to hear of someone like you becoming a statistic
