three way...

As you prolly know, I'm building a vintage hot rod (pix inna other thread), which means lots of trips to the auto parts store. Frankly, I've been soo busy at work and on the rod that I've had little time to cruise. Max has been demoted to a parts hauler and daily driver - that's all.

About a week ago, I was on my way back from a Murray's run and pulled alongside a Mercedes CLK 55 AMG. Pretty stout car; nearly 400 HP and low 13's. Moments later, I hear a big pipe cammin' motor roll up on the other side...

It's inna red Ranger.

tires stickin' out the back
big tach on the dash
5.0 badges on the fenders
vanity plate phonetically spelling boss ranger

so...it's an amped-up 5.0 inna ranger.

We roll off the lite; about ten feet out the ranger hits it. Max and I do the same, figuring that the Ranger is gonna roll on by...

Nope.

We run even thru 1st
I pull a half on the 1-2
pull another half thru 2nd
open a full length on the 2-3
shut it down shortly thereafter.

Meanwhile...

the AMG is a good four lengths behind, tryin' to hang but doin' a piss-poor job. Did the wave on the Ranger; tried the same on the AMG but the driver 'pretended' bo be engrossed inna phone confab.

Riiight.

he rolled by - then refused to allow me to pass him all the way home.

guess that's what happens when yer 80K ride gets stomped - you gotta save face somehow.

Not bad for a daily driver parts hauler. Added anything recently, or is it the same old max?

new clutch and pressure plate; suspension's loosened up a bit at nearly 50K miles which makes the weight transfer better.

other than that - a stock appearing car.
