my car finally won!

of course, i wasnt driving at the time. it was my father.

it was a buick skylark, pretty nice condition, a nice gold color, driven by an older man, of 65 or so, by looking at him.

whenever my dad drives, that means im cop patrol, and we hot dog it.


So, the skylark comes a creeping up behind us, and my dad notices it, and slows down, hoping to catch a light with this fellow, which we didn't, so we drop a gear and start agging him on to race, and he wasn't taking any of it, so we stop and just start cruising, talking about oldsmobile hurst 442's and stuff. so we stop at a light, and the skylark is next to us, doesnt really look like he wants to race, has his hand onthe passenger seat and everything.

the light turns green and we hear squealing of tires, look over and the skylark is about a half a length on us. my father quickly hits the throttle and off we go, slowly gaining on him. by the time we hit the end of second, we are a length on him, and we take it to the middle of fourth. he didn't want to race us anymore after that. he stayed way back.

P.S. as i was typing this, i got a call from a friend of mine, and i told him the story, and he told another friend, who decided he wanted to race me in his 1994 cadillac with a northstar V8, which i never heard of.

we go find a suitable, lesser used service drive, that we pre arranged to catch the light at and take off liek that. we pass the light and he begins to slow down, so i creep up next to him, wondering why he decided not to catch the light, not expecting to race right then, and i pull up next to him and hes creeping along, and he screams "GO!" so i took off, not a very good take off at all. he clearly got me there, and i gain on him. by 90mph i was a car length or so ahead of him, when i decide to slow down. we then hightail it home.

2 victories in one day for my car, and i still desperately need to time it. it was a good day, i should say.

So what exactly is done to that Mustang? Just curious, stock 70's engines weren't really speed demons.

its a 5.0 from a 1993 mustang cobra, and re cammed, or so im told. with a 5 speed, hurst shifter, and a 4.10 rear end.

its not the fastest by far, or the best looking, or the most reliable, but it is fast enough for me.
