Me vs. Ferrari F430

I didn't stay on Woodward too long tonight. I left around 8:30 to go out with my girlfriend. Traffic was pretty thick up until a little north of 15 Mile..after that it opened up pretty nicely actually. A half mile north of 15 I see a F430 next to a C5 Vette. The Vette wasn't having any of it, and I've wanted to race something exotic since I got the turbo upgrade...so I got up next to them (we were still cruising at 45ish) I was a few lanes over but with my exhaust cut-out open I definitly caught the F430s attention. I ended up being the 1st at the light just before 16 heading north, with the F430 behind me. Nobody was in our lane at the light at 16, but the rest of the lanes were full. I got on it a little bit to move up ahead of the rest of traffic and move over a lane. I was cruising about 60 by then so I slowed down a bit. As the F430 caught up and rolled by the guy looked over, smiled and grabbed his steering wheel with both hands (paddle shifters are the shit!) Both of us nail it immediatly (we were a tad under 55mph at this point) [Disclaimer: I'm an idiot for doing what I did in this next part] Now normally when I race on the street I don't go into 3rd and if I do it's usually very brief. Actually I'm not a fan at all of racing on Woodward...but this was a Ferrari! The F430 and I took it all the way to 135. By then I had about 2 1/2 - 3 cars on him.

We caught a light just before 18 mile and we talked for a minute waiting for it to go green. This is actually when I found out it was a F430...up to this point I wasn't sure which one it was. The guy was VERY cool though and gave me props on my car. FYI the F430 was a dark blue in color. Easily the most beautiful car I've seen and one of the best races I've had.

Heck, i wave people off all the time. If they dont take the bait the 1st time, then leave them alone!!

I enjoy a short race now and again, but its SOO annoying when your driving for 3+ miles with a car right next to you revving, speeding up, slowing down, looking over.. geeez. If i wanted to race i would have the first time or caught up to you later when the coast was clear.

Sorry, for the rant, but i just had a bone stock 04 GTO follow me from 15 mile all the way down to 11 mile where i live and he was just pacing me in and revving. I waved him off.. did not help. kept it up. Maybe he had somthing, i dont care, but when there are 12123434 cops out at night and i already passed that area and saw them sitting on the side, im not taking my chances on a street race. Already got pulled over once for drag racing.. that sucked.

But on a brighter note, that is a good kill, Road and track was saying they have a "corrected" trap speed of about 120mph.. but who really knows what they "acutally" run. Your little neon is a sleeper.

Starting at 55mph makes it pretty fool proof. Plus it was their version of an automatic that has the clutchless paddle shifters. It's a rediculous set-up. I wish I could have pulled over with the guy to check out his car.

I can think of one very specific zinc yellow exception to that rule...

Props, Rye! I sure the prancing pony didn't expect that outcome!

I think I hear you guys as you wound it up; you would have been in triple digits as you went by the house...

Where abouts do you live or were you at? We went twice between 16 and 18 mile. After that we were done.

about a third of a mile N of 16; there are a couple of stone posts off to the right which mark the street I use to get to my house.

That would've been about where we started our race. It's the street right before Charring Cross, right? Or is it Charring Cross? Either way we got moving somewhere between those two streets.
