I'm really not trying to be a dick to him...I'm sure I would enjoy talking with him. I kept reading that 1LE thing but never looked into it, haha. That's pretty sweet that it's like an ACR version of the Firebird. So how much lighter is it and what all do you lose or is changed?
I've actually watched a Firebird on an Auto-X course before and it raped everything but an Evo and the shifter carts. It was insanely nimble for being a bigger car.

Eh, it's not as bad as it seems. At the end of the day I realize my car is just a fast Neon.

Thanks for the kind words Chuck. I don't have a reason to BS and I have ohhh I dunno, maybe 600-800 passes down the strip, made it to a couple championships and so on. I have cut plenty of near perfect lights and can usualy run within a couple hundreths with a stick and within thousanths before on an auto over and over again. I have built a pretty extensive knowledge and skill and to be blunt, I get really pissed when someone questions this. My car weighs approximately 3000 lbs and started at 3100, I weigh about 140-145 so that isn't much to add. I made 284 hp and 308 ft lbs at the wheels on a bad tune and in less then optimal conditions (which we already covered). I make a little more now thanks to tuning (still waaaay too rich according to the plugs) but not much considering it has 94k and the shift rails don't like the trans to get hot. My best time to date was on the stock control arms and panhard bar which entitled me to massive scary wheel hop. I still ran a 13.62@103.99 with a low 2.2 60. I dont' have wheel hop any more and still have a pulley set on the kitchen table. Not sure if I want to bother before the rebuild.
If you want to see what was and wasn't included on my 1LE (not my Firebird in the avatar that is my Comp T/A and she is a sweet lookin but hefty car at 3300 lbs), check out my site, it is in my sig. I already wasted too much time on this and you tried to call me out without even reading about my car. I can't blame you for wanting to sniff out bullshitters, but son, I am not one of em. I am sure we would get along in person. BTW, I am quite capable of nit pickin an SRT4, if you push me to it, but I like em to a point and wouldn't bother unless I smelled BS. Sniff sniff...
As for Dan, I just pissed on your tires.

Rare4thGens, as you stated in your last response there is quite a bit of BS online and on forums...so you really can't blame me for questioning anything. If you take me questioning you as me "calling you out" that's fine..but I meant nothing other than litterally what I typed. To be honest, without going back and rereading it I have no idea what I even said. It has been your choice to 'waste time' on this conversation, but I've genuinely been interested about what you claim a stock engine LT1 can do with some minor weight reduction and suspension mods. Being a FWD turbo I4 guy you really can't blame me for not knowing what they're capable of. This is a forum for people generally in the same geographical area who are into fast cars...not just RWD V8's.
Feel free to poke fun at or point out flaws on the SRT4. I'm most definitly not denying there aren't any and I'll always be the first to say it's a Neon. I enjoy being the underdog and having people not knowing what they're getting into when they race me. Even if I lose, and I do from time to time, it usually surprises the hell out of people that a Neon ran as well as it does.
I'd definitly like to know what you meant by the 'sniff sniff' at the end of your post. If you think your LT1 is faster than my SRT4, or if you think you need a length or two let me know and we'll have at it. I most definitly don't have 600 - 800 passes down the strip, and I've never done anything other than T&T and casual screwing around...but I'd be happy to show you what my car is capable of.
Chuck, I'd love to have a counterpart to Max in one of your stories sometime! I'm actually very intersted in how I would do against him.

Rye -
One of these days...
Actually - I think it would be pretty close. Max would most likely take you outta the hole, but given enough road you'd probably run him down...
today.

I would also like to know how you get mid to low 12's on with those type of mods. I mean, maybe if you get a huge stall, drag radials, full drag suspension, and strip out everything that doesn't help you move forward, then yes, I could see it. Full bolt on LT1s normally get high 12's, maybe mid 12s, but this normally doesn't include much weight reduction. Most people aren't willing to do much weight reduction since they still want a "somewhat" comfortable ride, unless this is just their car they race in, which is why you normally don't see many "light" f-bodies on the street.
Not saying that you're wrong, I'm just trying to get to the truth, which also might help me. I'm also tired, so if anything doesn't make sense, then that's why. Now I should be going mid-low 12's soon with "few' mods :smt077 but that'll be do mostly to the 100 shot.

Seems to be how most of my races against people who know how to drive go. As long as I still have stock suspension I don't see myself getting anything below a 2.0 60' on drag radials. I do have slicks now though which would be MUCH better at leveling the playing field. Either way, win or lose I'd still love to try. We should get to a track together sometime. Do you ever go to Milan or Lapeer or any of the others in Michigan? I've been meaning to go these past two weekends, but now that I got these slicks I keep postponing it until I can get some tubes through work for them.

Exactly. I wasn't saying anyone was wrong...I just wanted more info on the exact set-up of an LT1 car doing those times.

[quote="RyeLou"] Do you ever go to Milan or Lapeer or any of the others in Michigan? I've been meaning to go these past two weekends, but now that I got these slicks I keep postponing it until I can get some tubes through work for them.
I was at Lapeer once this year - ran 13.1's all day long at 107-109 on a hot and humid (85 degrees and 60%-ish) humidity - no track prep, so I couldn't launch...could only roll off the line. I'd like to try US 131, Ubly, or Norwalk so as to get a decent launch pad.
By comparison - the F bods there that day were about a second slower, a buddy with a 5.7 GTO with lite mods was turnin' 14.1's, and a guy with a modded C6 'vette was turnin' 13.3's. Sometimes it's not how fast yer car is - it's how slow the track be!
