sadly I can't figure out for the life of me how a person can't quickly learn how to drive a stick. I learned it play at the butterfly and when I first got into an escort I new every thing (except that you had to pust the clutch to start it up).

He is probably like the fat guy I saw at Milan last year run a 15.7 with a six speed GTO.

Driving a stick, and driving a stick in a high performance manner, are two fairly unrelated entities. Just because you know how to drive one doesn't mean you can shift in a way to yield good performance. Even the average enthusiast that thinks they are shifting fast, really isn't driving worth a shit when you compare them to someone that really is good.

I agree with that! My dad's got a 93 Vette (LT1, 6-speed). HE can powershift. Now, my buddy has a newer Stratus w/a stick. He took me for a spin around the block and, trying to show-off, "powershifted" -- yeah....just because you can drive a stick doesn't mean you can "DRIVE a stick" :smt045

The guy is obviously a good driver because she probably started swinging as soon as he punched it. Try drag racin' with someone slapping you silly. It's harder than it looks. Trust me. :h And driving a stick. Well he'll probably be sleeping in the car so he'll have plenty of opportunity to practice.

My first run down the strip ever with a stick was last year at Eaton day.. First run 13.6, second run 13.5, third 13.4 (with my bone stock car).. I agree.. you really have to be dumb to mess up THAT bad.

I have ran with and beatin so many cars that for all intensive purposes should have made me look like a bitch. For some reason, people don't know how to feather a clutch, speed-shift and are deathly afraid of their redline. I have no clue why they spend the money after seeing these things. This doesn't include those who are just learning but those who don't care to. :smt120

I saw an 03 Cobra run a 14.8 at the track. Although this was the same guy that got beat by the Lightning and the T-bird consistently at auto x's, so he couldn't drive no matter what venue you put him in. He had even been to a Bondruant driving school! I think if I were them I would have told him not to advertise the fact he had been there, it just made them look bad.
