Like Ta12sec said.. hes prolly only putting 250-270 to the ground.. and with an M6 you should be able to walk a 3 speed of the line aswell... its all about learning your RPMS... and then you can launch like a beast... me having a 89 vette with 6speed and 3.45s in the rear.... im good to launch at 2-2200 and it catchs sooo nicely... i can even beat most LS1s and just about all Stock LT1s off the line even with less power! ive also taken out a Old mach 1 .. and your car is definitly faster than mine so you should take em easily

All I had was a 30 over 350. A 650 carb and 550 hp and about 500 ft lbs NA. Might not want to be so confident lol. Windsors are easy to get power out of.

Traction is really your only issue. 351's make good torque down low, LS1's shine at the upper end.
By 3rd gear you will be giving him an LS1 Education :smt023
Stock for Stock I'll take LS1 over 95% of all Old Muscle Cars. :smt025

Id day its a toss up and totally depends what was done to his motor.

But my gut feeling is that its not too fast, ESPECIALLY with the 3speed auto.

a buddy of mine from work has a fully restored 68 Mustang with a 351 crate motor... he only ran 14.1... Beautiful car, sounds mean, just not too fast..

69 stang, are you sure its a windsor motor. If its a cleveland motor i'd get very worried.

so you beat most LS1's off the line and beat all LT1's off the line? im confused as the low end power of the LT1 is greater then the low end power of the LS1. I cant remember the last time i got beat off the line by an LS1 unless it had a huge stall or gears. So i think your statement should be you beat all stock LS1's and most LT1's off the line :h

Anywho i say you race him. Go to the track because her rents may look down upon you for wanting to street race. Do it fare and square at a track. Remember the carb guys are still stuck at the 12' as being so damn fast :h

hell my dad thinks he CTS is really fast... well that wasnt hard to disprove :smt023

well, i personally think it has alot to do with the driver, too. also, 3 speeds equal less shifting. im going to go out on a limb here, is it possible to cam an engine to have a wider powerband, so even though he has three gears, he still shifts into the beginning of the powerband, like alot of 6 speeds and whatnot?

i know for sure it's the windsor motor. He really seems confident so i'm not sure what he's not telling me. I guess i'll just race him and see. He likes to shift the gears manually so maybe he will mess up there. guess we will just see thanks for all your help!
