STi vs. WS6

I thought that I would this since the old one got closed/deleted in a matter of miniutes.

This is with my old STi.

This is a super long story, cliffs are at the bottom.
The contenders:
STi - 341awhp
1998 Trans Am WS6 manual - headers, SLP loudmouth cat back, Ram Air, Ported and polished MAF sensor, K & N air filter, SLP smooth bellow,PCM programmed w/ Hypertech Power Programmer III.

Tonight Evan (2ndgearfling) comes over and some guys meet him over at my place. One of the guys really wants to ride in the STi. So I take him and another guy out for a quick run. Then he calls another guy and ask's him if he want's to run me. The guy in my car tells me that his buddy has a modified 98' WS6. Then the guy in my car says the WS6 is kinda slow and the driver bashes on 4 cylinder cars. So I am thinking to myself that this is a modded WS6 and I am getting set up to be inaihilated. I drive over there anyways with Evan behind me. We pull up to this guys house and there sits a black T/A. Guy asks what I have done to it "oh, some exhaust work and a bigger turbo" "A bigger turbo, that has a turbo?"- T/A guy "This one does too"- Evan The guy riding with me tells him to start up the LS1, he does and that thing was LOUD. I think that I am in deep trouble. So one of the guys that came with me jumps in the T/A, the other stays shotty, and Evan tags along with a passenger. We drive to a disclosed location and the guy jumps on it, I do too. 3rd gear, I am behind by 2 car lenghts. 4th gear, I am behind 1 car length. 5th, I am less than a car length.
We turn around and our passengers hop out, one of them has a video camera.
We line up, 3 honk, and jet. I launch like no other and leave him instantly 2-3 car lenghts back. I can hear him tryin to hook up w/o any luck and I am ahead of him a good 6-8 car lengths by the top of 5th.
We line up again and do another 3 honk. This time he gets a good launch and is at my back bumper. Then I just keep pullin untill top of 5th. Ended with a good 2-3 car win.
Then the guys jump back in and we go for the highway.
We do an 80mph pull, I start in 4th and get a good jump, shift into 5th and he is by my doors, then the destruction begins.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I am pulling hard on him!!! 6th gear comes and I keep pulling harder. I back off around 135ish.
It is time to go home and get yelled at by the woman because we have been gone for an hour and we were supposed to be gone for 5 mins.
So I pull off the freeway and the guy riding in the WS6 jumps into my car and we head home (3 in STi, 1 in WS6, 2 in WRX).
To give this guy an advantage we go again. Same thing happens and I back off at 145mph. His buddies say that he runs out of gearing up there, I tell them that I have an AWD car and up top isn't my best area.
We go home...

I will post the video of it when I get it.

Cliff Notes: I beat up on a modded WS6 over and over again.

Nick

That's great, I'm not surprised at all, but that's street racing(no strict classes.) The two cars don't even fall into the same class. Your car is for rally(4wd) 0-60 and is a lot lighter. I mean if you do the math the TA shouldn't have a chance! Your car has boost the TA doesn't... Yes, it counts as a kill and if you're happy about it, good for you.

you may beat them from a light to 60 or 70 but i have seen STi's get owned by LS1's... and a few LT1's... myself included

Actually the STi isn't light. It is over 3,000 lbs (massive 6 speed, and AWD). Subaru keeps adding rigidity to the cars every year too, so that adds on the lbs.

No doubt, there is always someone faster than you out there, always. With the right combo on the STi they are great on the highway. When they have the stock turbo and TMIC they loose all top end. This isn't my first LS1 on the highway.
I had the car down in Philly for the AKA Rally and we were tuning my car on the highway (5th gear pulls) and a Firehawk came up next to us. He wanted to run 'em (this was about 4am) so we decided to go for it, figuring that I would get whomped. I ended up taking him by a few car lenghts and I was very surprised. This was the first day with my 341awhp combo. The guys were surprised and pretty cool. Waived by, etc. On the 2k4 Rally I ran a LT1 T/A that kept cutting me off when I would go to pass him (I have video). This was on the stock turbo w/ exhaust. On the 2k5 Rally I was right next to a C6 on the highway up to 120ish before backing off. Dale, the owner wasn't too happy with me for that. Then I killed him in the 1/8 mile and he hated the awd more. :h I have also beaten a few LS1's at US131 dragway. I have also lost to a few Z06s, a Hennessey Viper, and a 770rwhp 300zx to name a few.

Mike's 770rwhp 300ZX

A fun picture from the 2k4 Rally. Awais's n20'ed C5. He popped the motor in the 190mph range spraying.

Got these stats off of the net, WRX -> 3351
Trans Am M6 -> 3481 lbs

I just couldn't see the STI weighing as much as the TA!

Still though man, it's all wheel drive and blown. Of course you're going to get us off of the line )%(

Good kill though man, I'm just letting you know what I think about street racing.... nice looking car also, my buddy pete may be getting a regular WRX or a used 911 Porsche. I told him the 911, we'll see what happens. He'll be one the site in the future, so both you and him can lecture us muscle car junkies!

It's decieving, but the rigidity and awd really add on the lbs. If you do a search and see my car after the rollover you will see how strong they are. Since thousands of Imprezas are used as rally cars Subaru went the extra step, even though roll cages are required for rally events.

I wasn't arguing at all. I was kinda getting at the point that with a good turbo that holds full boost untill redline that they are great from a roll too. The oem ones that taper twards redline blow major monkey balls from a roll/ :smt078
