This is a Thread I started on The Formula Source about 2 yrs ago.
It's pretty simple post a story of an Old Win/Lose.

I'll get the Ball Rolling.

Circa; Fall 1999
Me and my Buddy Al are out for a night of Street Racing in the Formula. Only Mods are The Debaffled R/A Hood FRA and EGR mods

We make a few laps on G street (Gratiot) when we spy a Pewter T/A Hawk coming up from behind on the left. He throws us a rev and we answer back. He asks if I am stock. I say I got a couple free mods and the hood He says he has a stock 6spd. After a couple of stage and plays we decide to hit the service drive. We slow for the second light west of G street waiting for it to turn red.
Light turns Green and I launch on him leaving him by a car out of the gate. as the revs climb I see him letting out of it so I do the same we stop for a little chit chat and decide to run again from a 10 roll.
We flip around at Hayes and start on the way back to Gratiot we slow to a 10 roll I let him make the call, On 3 he says.
Ok, 1...2...3 and we're off. The Cars are dead even through first, I powershift second and he's still there fender to fender with me.
as I bang third I gain a few inches but the Hawk is still there, It's anyones race now. I quik shift fourth at 6000rpm and start edging him out by a fender. At 110 or so I let out of it and he was at my Door. Wow what a run, My heart was racing faster than the Cars.
We give the thumbs up and go our merry way looking for some more Prey for the night was still young.

Cool but I have one question. I know my car has different ratios in the trans but a 6000 RPM in 6th gear I am at 126 mph...I couldn't help but ask.

4th gear tops out around 124
And that is the last gear in the Race
110 in 4th gear is somewhere around 51-5200 rpm

And your `94 has the same ratio's in the trans as mine.
The `93's have 2 different gearsets depending on rearend gears.

Circa 1993
Car 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Mild 400, auto, 2.41 gears.

Another night on G street.
Me and my Buddy Al have been eyeing this Mustang for a couple laps (Black GT 5.0 5spd) After a couple stage and plays we finally we get together at a light. It happens to be the 13mile turnaround light at Jeffrey Buick on Northbound Gratiot (Now pay attention this is pretty significant)
My Car has Highway gears so off idle launches are pretty easy
The light turns Green and we're off. Both Cars have slight wheelspin but are dead even, then the Mustang hits 2nd chirps but doesn't gain anything I'm still in 1st and staring to nose by him.
I click up the Factory ratchet shifter at 5500 rpm and screech into 2nd at 65mph, the mustang has dropped a car back now and is hitting 3rd but he still ain't gaining on the big 400.
(Meanwhile we are Blowing through the light at 13mile and it is still RED :smt017 Cause it hasn't turned green yet)
I wind out 2nd to 5000 and click it to 3rd the mustang is still hangin in there but starting to really lose ground.
Ahead of me is the I94 on ramp light and it is still RED also, BUT there is a Car going through the light. :smt039
The person in the Car stops in the middle of my lane because she see's me barreling down on her at about 100mph.
Oh SHIT I say as I slam on the brakes drop the trans down to 1st and lock up the rear wheels, we manage to slide around Her without any problems but saw our lives Flash before our Eyes in the process.
Later we swore we would never Street Race again,.....
We were back out the Next Weekend

Good stories! How come people are so stupid? If I was running down the street and someone pulled a gun out and pointed it at me I sure as hell wouldn't stop dead in my tracks and let him shoot me. the parralel with a car-why do people stop in the middle of a lane when someone is coming? P.S. she already had a green light! Sheesh. Other people :smt021

yea street lights suck when racing me and some 80's TA blew threw 2 on the 696 service drive..... stupid but such a rush!!

what does your car top out at? i was at 145 in 5th the day before i left

I used to be heavy into serious street racing long ago, I have plenty of stories and experiences that I wouldn't even dream of doing anymore, but would be happy to share them -
