spotted an orange one with the 'daytona' stripe on the side...

Dunno 'bout the looks of the car, to be honest. It's kinda goofy looking; don't think it will sell as well as the 300.

i HATE the daytona's paint schemes......the charger's are kinda funny, some of them i think look good, others look like crap(at least in my opinion, depending on color/wheel/body combo)

they won't sell as well as the 300, but as of the end of may they'd sold 27k.....

Niiice. The guy prolly went to work tellin himself you were prolly runnin a blower, s/c, nitrous,...etc to justify his loss.

shoot, it's funny how many carbed guys that DO race STILL think you need all that to get 11s......i was only in the 12s last year and guys were assuming i was spraying and/or had engine work done....just a stock ls1, nothin' special :smt045

Tellyouwhut...

I'm gonna go after some of the old iron after runnin' a few and watching them fade fast. Figure the drivers could use a little umm...updating on what passes for fast these days.

I ran a '66 Mustang kitted out as a true 60's racer out at Lapeer - T-bolt hood blister, skinnies and M/T's stickin' out of the wheel wells, traction bars and a cage. Open headers; sounded like he was gonna clean my clock. He'd come off the line strong but faded about halfway down the track. Max would put 8-10 lengths on him by the time he'd tripped the lights.

We did that 2, maybe 3 times - I forget. I went to say hi to the guy afterwards; he was all red-faced and pissed off - pretty much ignored me.

I hear ya' I had a guy, he's pretty cool but Old Skool. Anyhow told me I'd be lucky to see high 14's in Z??? I was like "I don't suck that bad, lol" "Oh, it's not your driving", he said "F-Bods just aren't that quick."

Reeeeaaallly?? :/// Don't 'fink so, Homer. (we'll see, i guess)

yeah, it's funny cuz of all the info out there nowadays in print and especially on the internet, but some people that you would think know "what's up" are pretty naive about new school performance.....of course when i got my first camaro i thought low 14s were freaking screaming! but that's a little different, it was my first "fast" car of any kind, i didn't have any experiece with anything other than my old mazdas......
on the other hand, the general public still thinks that just because a '81 vette is a vette it'll smoke any camaro, when chances are their grocery getting accord would take it....

i wasn't saying you cannot get ridiculous power out of carbs, it's just so much easier with fuel injection nowadays to take a near stock car and haul tail consistently.....the few guys that have never made that jump can't believe a car with no engine mods can run that quick........

i've thought about going to a fi setup with the buick, but i'm pry gonna stick with the carb, if for no other reason than educating myself.....

shoot, the more chargers i see on the road, the more i want one(and i hated them at first).....with my employee price i could get a r/t for under 27000...... :smt017 anyone want a 300m?

easy on the carb bashing....

a mechanic at my work has a '69 mach one, all stock down to polyglass tires. runs 12.90s consistently, and its just got a four barrel.

nice kill on the charger btw.

have you seen the f.a.s.t. series at all? they have to be factory appearing and run on bias-ply tires......last year the quickest guy was a buick gs that ran 11.03(i think), this year a l88 vette broke tens......
greg gessler drove the buick last year, and he said it's gotten to the point where he can launch that car better on the old school tires than on drag radials.....
