Got the Axe Today..............

Everyone here knows of the trouble at Ford. Well today it hit home.

I was given my layoff notice today. Now first before you guys start with the "I'm sorrys" let me explain what will happen to me.

First thing is, January 2nd I will have to check out of my building (Dearborn Tool and Die). I then will be placed in the "Gen-Pool". This a job-bank. I will have to go to work and sit in a room for 40 hrs a week. I get my normal 40 hr/week pay. I should be in this pool for about a week. At that point I will bump into another plant at the Rouge site.

The plant that I'm at will layoff 100 die-makers as well as other tradesmen and workers. I'm a millwright. I will always retain my bump back rights to the line if that was to ever come. Worst comes to worst I could go back to the line and wait until a millwright spot opens back up.

More than likely I will end up at either the Frame Plant or the new F-150 Assembly plant as a millwright. This is probably a blessing in disguise. My plant is cutting back on work and will more than likely be a 40hr building. The other plants that I will probably be placed at will be working some overtime. And everybody knows that with overtime comes more Marauder goodies.

Could be worst, could be our generation and have no chance of getting the job you want at all Lol, it's not that bad, but it's getting there.
