New guy. First post.
What do you think about the new breed of muscle cars. The soon to be new Camaro & Dodge Challenger? The current Ford Mustang GT, Chrysler 300C & SRT, Charger and Magnum RT's & SRT's. They have 340 HP 5.7 HEMI's and 425 HP 6.1 HEMI's. Do they qualify as muscle cars?
I'm just wondering.

I absolutely love them! Especially the new Camaro and Challenger, though the Challenger is a little bloated, hopefully they downsize... I think they most deffinately qualify as muscle cars, it's just the new breed. A lot of people need to realize it, especially the ahmmm, older crowd :smt048 , lots of them think that the only true muscle cars were back in the 60s and 70s. They need to get to the track and find out the truth!!!!
Speaking of which, a story just came to mind!!!
About 3 years ago, when I just picked up the TA... It was the week before the dream cruise... I pull up to this old school MUSTANG II, the guy doesn't even look over. My buddy's in my car and tap him and say "watch this," I rev it up a little bit. The old guy next to me in the Mustang II goes "don't even try it." Acting like my car ain't shit!!! Both my buddy and I just laughed, he just pulls off and I do to, not getting on it at all...wasn't even worth it! By the way did I mention that his stang still had the primer on and wasn't even painted, sounded like he just had a small V8 in it too...
Attitude towards the new gen of muscle cars is a little harsh if you ask me! Some of us see it a lot out on Woodward....

I AM an "Old Guy". Having celebrated the 24th anniversary of my 39th birthday back in February. :-)
I was just wondering because I have an 05 Dodge Magnum RT and didn;t know if it qualified as a muscle car. I can get the groceries home before the ice cream melts.
In January I went to the track for the first time since my 1969 Chrysler 300 was about 2 months old and turned a 14.4. Didn't expect to race so I had a full tank of gas and other stuff in the back. Maybe next time I can get into the 13's. It's stock except for a Borla catback.

bad attitude on the driver, but DO NOT underestimate the mustang II's. they are light, and 351W's fit in with just a little trouble. those cars are light, and have 302's stock, so a built 302 is perfect for them.
i've even seen 429 and 4.6 MII's.
