:smt017 ...I have been chasing this damn thing down for about a month now! I have a problem where the wire that connects between the alternator and the battery grounds out...disconnect the wire at the battery, jump car, it runs fine...but kills the battery. While car is running, touch wire, and you could probably weld with that spark. The wiring in the charging system is fine, I've gone over it about half a million a!'! times now, all for nothing. Here's the readings, with battery at an even 12V:

Grn wire at alt to ground: 2.7V
Blu wire at alt to ground: 2.7V
(@ Voltage Regulator) Blue wire-nothing
Grn wire- 6.2V
It's the right alternator, and there is no visible grounds...?

This will help 1st you need to figure out whats bad, 99% of the time its a bulk head connector, the main charging wire from the alt runs through a bulk head and the gage in the dash before it goes to the battery.
