My 67 Mustang is getting a stroker!!!

Okay, it's official, my 1967 mustang is getting a 331 stroker dropped in it as soon as i can get the motor finished up. The block's up at the machine shop right now getting bored and honed, then the new set of forged internals has to go up there so they can balance the whole shabang. Here's a few pictures of the process and such, i'll try to update as much as possible. the engine is a 289 block, going to be overbored and stroked to a 331, crane energizer cam, pertronix electronic ignition, gear timing set, forged flat top pistons, beam forged rods, forged stroker crank, performer rpm intake manifold, hedman headers, 4-speed toploader with hurst shifter, 4 bbl holley carb (650 if i remember right?), aftermarket cobra rims with a set of rubbers off my '03 cobra, 275/40/17's, dual exhaust with glasspacks and turndowns, etc. Anyways, here's some pictures to start off with.

Engine just pulled out...

Bolting it up to the engine stand to start tearing it down.

One of my new pistons...

Okay, well that's all i have for now, i'll start updating when i start cleaning everything up and putting it back together...

Alrighty, just got back from the machine shop. While i was up there, we punched in all my engines info into this nifty little program that they have and it spit out what the theoretical compression ratio and cubes should be. According to the program, i'm gonna end up with 331.xx cubic inches with a compression ratio of about 10.4:1. This thing should rock pretty good when they get done with the block. Then i have to put my crane 272 cam back into it along with my newly redone heads (that they're also reworking right now) and i should be good to go. I also figured out why the car wasn't making as much power as i thought it should. I pulled the heads off and had them cc'd, they came out to about 72cc combustion chambers. The stock 289 heads are supposed to be about 54.5cc according to the book. Therefore, the compression ratio was WAY low before i took it apart, about 8.27:1 to be exact. Definitely explains why i wasn't making much power though cuz i have a dual plane high rise intake manifold, headers, the cam, holley 4bbl carb, full exhaust, yadda yadda. Well anyways, i'll get this done and then on to the rear end. Probably a set of 3.73's or something, cuz i believe they're 3.08's right now. Sorry, no more pictures yet, but i'll have some soon for you guys.
P.S.: Thanks for the compliments!
-Mike

interesting.....

I just slapped a set of those exact pistons into the exact same block last week :smt045

me and my buddy are building a 331, forged everything, roller lifters and rockers, freshly machined block/heads(edelbrock performers) and freshly balanced rotating assembly for his 93'

Got the engine all together except we ran into a problem with the push rods being to short making the rockers to come in contact with the retro fit kit he bought to make the rockers adjustable with push rod guides on it.

nice lookn car and engine dude :smt023

maybe later on, i just wanna get everything together first, and an intake manifold is easy to change, so if i decide to change it, i can just do it later.
