Detent cable?

its been hard to go up a steep hill and its been botherin me so tonite i got on level ground and launched it, rear end sat down, front came up, head hit seat, then i hit 20mph and it basically threw me forward, bogged down but everything engine wise was fine, didnt miss or sputter, i know my detent cable is loose but would that cause that???

i dont understand did it shift gears then die, what trans and rear end is in the car?

no, it shifts and slows down, not sure on rear end but the trans. is only the 3 speed, dont even have overdrive. like last week or anyonther time when i open the 4 barrel at 40 or 45mph, you could feel it kick in, feel it pull you but know nothings there

sounds like a carb or timing issue
if its bogging, detent is for contorl ing the tranmission kick down

well i got under there tonite and messed around, when i pull the throttle back the detent falls off. . . theres a clip thats broken off that holds it on, its only 21 dollars to fix

id fix it but i that sgouldnt cause your symptoms, if the trans is in a gear it shouldt affect anyhting untill it shifts

Without the cable being hooked up (he said it's falling off), it will allow the torque converter to lock up way too soon. That will cause the bog down he's getting.

dont laugh but i jus put some tape on it last night jus to get it to stay and i launched it and it was fine until i took the tape off, the new cable was jus ordered bout an hour ago
