you dont even need to short them, just unplug the plug.

There's nothing aftermarket about that, it's only about a 4" speaker. It has the plastic panel molded to fit over it from the factory. I'll try unplugging the connectors, but i don't think my rear speakers will work then. Maybe if I just disconnect the power. I'll let you guys know my results when I get more time. Engineering sucks

yeah test the leads mith a multimeter and whichever one reads 12 volts when your radio is on can be snipped.
