my car sux!

i guess this would go in here. i hate gm, na jp. but seriously. my friggin car won't start. i think it either the starter or the fact that i'm a nice guy and jump ppls cars for them when they are in need. i either spiked out my alt/bat by jumpin about 5-6 cars in the last 5 mos, jumped pop's truck 3 times last week. or my starter's going on me. the motor's only got 34-35k on it, but when it was rebuilt i think it got all the old shit off the other motor. any sugg's would be greatly appreciated. thanx :smt023

I took my car in to the shop so the guys can get started on her first thing in the morning. My problem could be Rotors or the Slip Differential. I wount find out until tommrrow morning. I am soooo scard to see the bill to fix her. I guess some of the christmas money is going to pay for the car .

Put the meter across the terminals. See if it reads 12 volts. (it may be a little more)

If its really low like 8 volts or less than you have a DEAD battery but not necessarily in need of a new one. You need to juice up the battery and start the car, let it run and put the leads across the battery again and see if its around 13.8 volts, if it is your alternator is good, if it is not than you have a bad alternator.

it has been a very very very very lllloooonnnngggg week! i can't believe i forgot how to tell if the bat is dead! :smt039 i figured it out about 20 mins after the last post, bat is 12.7 off and 14.1 runnin. i really didn't need to do that to figure out what the prob is, (once again LLOONNGG week). my starter silinoid/motor are bad. i notice when it's gonna shit out on me, the dummy lights come on real slow and the chime is quiet. i can sit there and turn the car off and try and start it repetedly (many many times) and the last 2 of 3 times (today i just gave up and came back bout 2 hrs later) it's kicked the starter over and started up. now comes the fun part, getting the new one and crawling my old ass under the damn thing.

i'll be prayin it don't fall on me, i had my 89 rustang fall on me during a oil pan gasket change (oh the pain, oh the agony!!!). this is why i need my own garage! with expensive lifts!!!!

thanks for the help tho ry.

you got it brotha!

Yeah, be careful changin that solenoid. Long Long ago when my 89' Camaro was running i had to change the whole starter and I had really leaky valve cover gaskets so the whole motor was oil soaked (including the starter) So i slip with a wrench and i split my eyebrow open with it as it dropped on my face. lol. I still have the tiniest little scar.

well, the valve covers should be fine. i don't see anyoil leaks. thanx for the heads up.

the last 2 stoopid things i did on my car was, busted the back of my wrist open trying to take the hose off the water pump with a screwdriver. my hand slipped and, bang, smashed the top opening and gave myself a nice inch long cut filled w/antifreeze and road grime. finished the job b4 washin and (got pics of this) cut under my eye on my 1/4 window. long story short, never lean over a cracked header, rev the motor and watch the exaust come out. it burns the shit outta your eyes :smt021 . went to sit in the car, had to close my eyes and leaned WWAAAAAAAYYY too far foward as i sat down and closed the door at the same time :smt039 . thank god that didn't leave a scar!
