Lower Control Arm Bushings

Uh how do you get the stock bushings out of your lower control arms after they have been sitting for 21 years?

burn them out with a cutting torch?

hmmm, i used a propane torch and i got some funny smoke.

Anybody got some oxy-acetylene tanks they wanna sell me? i have everything else.

Anybody know of where i can get some cheap oxy-acetylene tanks for cheap if no one wants to sell them to me?

I think Cheap and OXY/acetelyine torches are two words that done go in the same sentence.

yeah i dont have new bushings yet, cant you like buy/rent a press from {shhh} murrays.

with my leafsprings i had on my jeep i got a full tank of propane...set it on high and proped it up to forch the bushing...of course this was done outside and every 5 minutes i went and checked on it and dug out as much as i could with a screw driver untill it got it out...takes a while but i dont have a torch...cant you pick them up for like $150 from home depot for the ones with small tanks??


or just dip them in gas and light them lol.........j/k

LOL! Not that that hasnt been tried, we used PB blaster on the bolts fully knowing that it was flammable.

See i have the brazing/welding/cutting kit, i just dont have any tanks. there is a site that would sell a 10lb O2 tank and a 10lb Acetylene tank for a total of 226$. Not a bad deal, not a bad xmas gift either.

We will see. Not like i wouldnt never use it on a resto you know?
