I want to get some 3.73s for my 10 bolt with a4. I was wondering if it is something I could do myself. I heard a few people doing it themselves but don't know the details. I called a few shops and what they want is also insanely high.

from what ive heard it is a pita to get right without gear whine, but hey, youve been successful at quite a few advanced jobs so far.

On a side note, Id still like to know what i got in mine. According to the rpms/mph on http://www.f-body.org/gears/ my car has 4.10s. But when i crawled under it and turned the driveshaft i got less than four rotations of the driveshaft for one revolution of the wheel :smt017 It seems like my speedo is calibrated correctly but ive never tested it for sure. I just replaced the fluid, so its gonna be a while before i tear it apart again to find out for sure.

4th gear 75 miles an hour will read your gear ratio on your tach
4100rpm=4.10gears 3230rpm =323
always 75 mph in the gear that is 1to1
t56 is 4th gear
4l60 is 3 gear

OK, no offence but how do they run over a 1200 RPM higher then a manual and only get 2 less miles a gallon with a stock gear? Are you maybe off by a thousand or so on each, I mean high?

6th gear in a t56 is .62
4th gear in an auto is .70
your fuel milage comes from the over drive
which is very simalr most of the diffrence in fuel milage is more from the extra mass and parasetic loss in a slush box
