That's pretty much what is in my 83 but the bastard who owned it before me trashed it. It still runs pretty well when cold. It has a 600, performer etc, MSD cap, misc wires lol, bosch platinums, K&N filter/open lid. It pushes my 4x4 around pretty well despite the abuse and wire coat hangers holding up the exhaust.

how much do you want to do? you can pick up a set of stock vortecs with a performer intake, gaskets, bolts and rocker arms from scoggin-dickey for 819. and you can swap them without pulling the engine(wait, what car is it?)

if you don't do the heads, at least put a performer intake on; on a 305 I wouldn't put an RPM intake on stock heads, a little too big IMO.

as already mentioned, give the ignition system some attention.
