Late model monte engine swap?
Im considering purchasing an 04 mote carlo ss which is a V6 supercharged. now im curious if anyone has done or knows if a V8 swap is possible. Will it fit? how hard will it be to make it fit? Does anyone know of any V8s that will fit? and finally if not able or if cheaper to just unleash the V6 since its supercharged, would that be better?
Im just looking for any positive feedback anyone can offer it would be greatly appreciated. Even if someone can point me to a site that ight have more info. Im doing some searching on my own. Thank you for your time.

well 1st are you going to make it RWD?
if not the 5.3 that comes in the new GTP(if not GXP i get confused) would fit. If you wanted a different motor than that(which 305hp isnt bad at all) im sure you could find something that could make the bellhousing to fit to the auto trans.
Id probably save the money from switching the v8 in and mod the 3.8 if its S/C. Beef up the trans and do some sweet stuff to it and you probably wont regret it
Edit: by re-reading you probably are not aiming for RWD. But as i said up there^
It would most likely be cheaper to mod the 3.8. Strong motors weak trannys. beef up the trans and mod up the motor and youll have yourself a fun little car.

Unless you have a LOT of money to burn and a lot of skill, build the 3800.

It would be a pain in the ass, you would need a ton of money, not only what would be involved in the driveline but then fitting it.
Oy, i would unleash the 6, much cheaper and you wont kill yourself trying to fab up the 8 cylinder.

Fix up the 3.8, put a turbo on it to spruce up the s/c, fix up the tranny, a rear end, lil suspension :smt023 = One badass V6

Just to encourage you, a twin charged (turbo into the s/c) GTP hit the high 9's in the 1/4 last fall. Not bad for a full interior car lol.

definitely the v6 with a turbo! I've wondered if swapping the s/c for an n/a intake and putting a nice size turbo and intercooler would work better since turbos are more efficient than s/c's(not that s/c's are bad, just less efficient)
