I saw the story on that. Guy had trailers full of rare engines and parts and a bunch with complete cars. A bunch of SS's, and even a couple Yenkos. I wish I had that kind of money to buy stuff without even looking inside to make sure it's all in there

no kidding, start my own barrett jackson

I would strongly suggest building yourself an easy and affordable 530 HP, pump gas friendly 461 c.i. from a Gen VI 454 .030 over. Out of the box Edelbrock performer RPM oval port heads and Air Gap intake, Hyd roller cam above 550 lift Speed Pro/TRW forged 10:25:1 pistons, Chevy dimple rods with 7/16 bolt or Eagles and a standard BB chevy crank, Melling Hi press/Vol oil pump and moroso 7 qt oil pan. I ran the sh^t out of this engine for almost 2 years with a 150 squeeze on a 70 SS/RS camaro then sold it to a guy who rebuilt it and is still running it today in his 68 camaro (almost 5 years with same crank and rods) The real problems came when I put in a 828 HP 565 c.i. which comes apart once a year.....ahhhh the good ol' days of beating on that engine and not worrying about anything :smt023

I strongly agree with ssloco. Find yourself a nice rebuildable 454 core and rebuild it using any large oval port head (watch out for peanut port) and you could make 450hp horspower without a problem with a well matched combo.

Also have a buddy who built a 460 off a 454 core. Steel crank, forged pistons, maybe he did a mild port, flat tappet special that made an easy 550 horse off the 100 horse shot and 650 ft lbs off the bottle. It was in a 73 3/4 ton truck though so weight and an open rear kept it in the mid to low 13's at 3000 ft. He didn't have much more then 5 grand into the engine with the nitrous (cheater system). Maybe less, I have to ask him about it. It is apart waiting for him to raise enough cash to redo the whole truck. Can't wait. Nothin like the first time I drove it on the bottle :smt077
