305 Heads???

Hi i have a 383 stroker, and is making a good amout of power, but it has 305 heads on it, is this a good thing or not?

That depends on a number of factors..

Have you put the head on a flowbench, or know the Flow #'s?

What are the vavle sizes, compression ratio, HP levels, etc..

Im sure it could be a good thing or a really bad thing, we need more info to even come close to knowing.

if they flow good, then from what i hear the 305 heads on a 350 block actually give it a better compression ratio

it has really good comp. 10.5:1 and it seems to flow better than normal heads.

they are stock, i heared that the combusion chamber may be to small. is this true?

small in comparison with heads of a 350 and/or aftermarket heads.

a 383 stroker with an aftermarket head the produces the same CR will have better flow rates.

check out that site to see what size combustion chambers you have with the casting number off of your head.

I put 350 heads on my 403, kicked the compression way up 8.5:1 to about 10-10.5:1, they had some machine work done to them tho.

made the car ALOT faster.

one of the guys i know put a set of old vette 283 heads on a 383 stroker. i said your nuts!! its C/R is 18:1 it runs through trannies like no other.

im buildin a 350 roller to drop in and i have a pair of 87 305 heads (new) and im not sure if they will help or hurt it....i have been told good and bad things. so im confussed too! :smt017
