Mufflers or straight pipes?

I want something to make my vic a little more mean! i wanted straight pipes alot for the sound but i heard that you loose low end torque(which i dont want to do becvause i dont have alot of horses to start). so should i wait to get duel flowmaster 40 series or just chop out the mufflers and fill it in with straight pipes?

:)iroc

P.S. i know its not a vic but its still a police car

you rather have torque or hp? torque= 3 or 2 chamber flows
hp= Straight pipes ending jus behind passenger seat :smt023

i disagree with with losing Torque on the Straight pipes... if you got the 5.7 V8 in the Vic or is it the 305/307 (cant remember which was the other they used... you will not lose enough torque to even notice but will gain a nice amount of power if you lose the cats and run an X pipe with a nice straight through Muff

its the 4.6 V8 i believe its the 302 actually. its kind of a dog! so the straight pipes would give me an overall hp gain?

if its the 4.6 then its the 281 C.I. since you have a 2000 put flows on it because it wont pass inspection, if you have someone that will jus slap a sticker on it then straight pipe your car. Yeah the straights would give you a better HP gain cuz its very free flowing exhaust.
p.s. 5.0 = 302 C.I.

if you keep the pipes run out the back straight/resonators will be fine, you should have enough backpressure still to scavenge. if you were just going to remove the mufflers and leave it dump straight out there, then you would definitely lose power and mileage.

I really like spintech mufflers, they sound MEAN! I'm not really a big fan of flows(I do currently have two on my '56 and have had several and have heard a million on the road). yeah it's better than stock but compared to a GOOD muffler, there is no comparison, they sound like poop. it'd be worth checking out.
