A thermostat is not a big deal, they are easy as hell to install (on genI blocks at least...lol)

If your car was ever in any danger over overheating in the first place this would lessen the chance.

a 160 degree Thermostat means that when your water temp reaches 160 degrees it opens and pushes coolant through your radiator, thus keeping your motor effectively 20 degrees cooler than the stock 180 (is this correct?)

We have them in stock. No problems at all. We use them all the time.

remember what temps the engine was programmed to run at. You dont want it running too cold. Yes colder then stock is better but you dont want it too cold.

If your really wanting to run cold do a 160 t-stat (engine will still get hotter then 160... just thermostat opens earlier), fan switch, as well as a coolant/distilled water/water wetter combo. I did roughly about 20/70/10%. I only did these because the extreme heat in Arizona that i encountered during august, september, april, and june. Along with this my computer is set for a 160* t-stat and instead of a fan switch my computer is set so the high and low fans turn on at 160*... just makes things easier

contrary to popular belief, you actually get more of the fuels energy into mechanical power when your car is running a higher temperature. This means the engine is more thermally efficient (less energy transferred to the coolant).

Now tell me WHY would you want your engine to run cooler? Volumetric efficiency!, with cooler cylinder walls you can allow a denser charge of air into the chamber and burn more fuel, however a higher % of that fuel burned is going into the coolant. Within the temperature ranges we are dealing with, the changes are minor.. but still noticable. Why do you think Thermal barrier coatings have done so well? They allow the combustion chamber to run at a higher temperature, thus using more of the fuels energy for power and not sending it to the coolant. Did you know your coolant system has to deal with about as much power as your driveline?? (interms of energy) But alas, with gasoline engines the darn onset of knock limit how hot the temperature within the cylinder can get and still maintain proper combustion..

damn engine knock haha... just had to bust out the engineers explanation. I was just trying to keep it simple for him as most people dont know what and how thermal barriers and such work.
