Opti-spark
i just did a full tune-up on my 97 t/a, including a brand new distributor and cap and rotor. i also replaced the ignition module. now when the car warms up it dies and wont start until it is absolutly cold. i am also getting no spark. any ideas?

Thats the problem i'm fixin right now. The optical eye is bad. The heat causes it to shut down the fuel and then won't turn back till it cools down. You can drive probally 5-6 miles before it dies right.

exactly... if you need one the best place to get a opti is from Sam Taylor in florida... its some wholesale dealership. I was refered there and couldnt be happier with mine... havent had a problem since...

Or you guys can pm me and I can get you one with a lifetime warranty. My wife works at a pontiac dealership. They charge like 500 but i can get it for like 250 - 275. They are a goodwrench dealer so it's lifetime warranty on all parts. Let me know. What did you replace it with? was it the napa special cap and rotor.

same here i work at the local chevy dealer here is stillwater so i can get one for cheap too.

yes i replaced it with a napa opti distributor and cap & rotor. the thing is they already sent back the core. so all i can do is exchange it.

I made the mistake of using the napa crap before. It lasted less than 4,000 miles.

didnt know NAPA was crap,
now i know. Is it any better than Duralast?

when it comes to the opti spark no matter how bad it hurts go and get the dealer part... all the aftermarket for these thing suck...
