Fuel pump???'s

I'm having some problems keeping pressure on the lines from the pump to carb side I think. Should I go with a 5 psi electric fuel pump for a daily driver??? I was told I did not need one awhile back, but this will be the 2nd mech pump in less than 1.5 years. Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

i went with a holley electric fuel pump, and ran it at 7 psi. an old school engine like yours needs no more than that. if you had maybe 450 to 500 hp you might need to go more, but i wouldn't. i got about 350 hp, and it is fine.

My mom's chevelle with a stock 283 has the same pump i do, at 6 psi, and it is fine. just make sure you mount it away from your exhaust, (oops, i did that!).

hope this helps.

P.S. this will be fine for a daily driver, my Duece is exaclty that

OK, thanks everyone. I have a in-line regulator installed already, set at 5psi. I was told, that is about all an Edel really likes. So, I figured if I get the 5psi pump, I can eliminate the reg at the same time, and go 3/8 line from tank to carb. Just to update the situation, the car starts, runs and holds pressure now. Strange, but it almost acted like it was vapor locked for 2 days straight. I don't know what happened, but it is OK now. :smt025
