Hey - been gone from the site a long time and just found this thread - it's true....the Original 40s have been discontinued. They have been replaced w/ the Super 40 model.

As for the durability of Flowmaster's products....I have 'em on my Mustang and haven't had one problem w/ 'em and love the sound (which may be different from the sound most you F-body guys are looking for).

FYI

Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow 3" 943041
405 cfm @ 23" Hg

Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded 3" 17221
1300 cfm @ 23" Hg

These were center inlet, offset outlet. Center/center would be pretty close.

Support your sponsors!!!!

I use an Ultra Flow Crossflow (1300 cfm) do keep the dual tailpipes. No cats, LT Dynomax Headers. The car is quiet below 2500 RPM at light load.

I run delta flows ss 40s on my elco and it sits low enough that i have dragged the mufflers over speed bumps, ive even caught one up againt a pot hole at about 80 and all it did was ding it up no exhaust leak because of it. i like them and the stainless makes it rust proof another great thing, and i got them from vic hubards for 66 a piece. my camaro runs a 50 series so it is a little bit quieter but i like it jus the same, we have always used flow master mufflers or glasspaks never used magnaflow.
Jon
so they do hold up well i can contest to that.

Why wouldn't they make'em in 3" anymore, that's what most of the older cars go with and new. He tells me because the mustang doesn't go with 3" that is why. He said that the delta flows have 3", but those aren't as loud so I said hell with that. I'm going to call flowmaster and see if they have 3". This really pisses me off! Why the hell wouldn't they make 3" fitment anymore :smt017

All I want to do is replace the resonator on my loudmouth with a 40 series, I thought that would be possible! :piss

Are you lookin for loud? A resonator only is going to be way louder than a 40 series muffler.
