Cowl vs Ram air hood question

I'm familiar with the 2nd gen type cowl induction hoods.
I saw a ram air SS hood on a 98 Camaro that looks nice.
I'm thinking of getting a 95 Z28, but it has a plain hood, and I like the looks of the hood scoops. :smt025

Which type of hood is best to improve the engine performance and what catalog (website) is the best to get one at? TIA

check out one of our sponsors. American Sports Cars Design

They have a selection of functioning and non functioning ram air hood scoops. If you are still having trouble finding what you are needing send me a PM

I think he mean he WOULD go with the SS hood, not he WILL go with the SS Hood....

I also agree... The LT1 Maro with a SS hood looks so damn good. although the ram air does not work as good as the WS6. But ya gotta remember the ram air effect doesnt come into play till like 90mph lol

well in terms of effective it depends on the application, a cowl hood is for high rise manifolds that wont allow clearance on a stock hood, the hood scoop is forced induction, which for a stock application has no real advantages outside of, as priorly stated, at higher speeds. so basically it would be more profitable to go with a hood scoop, because people always assume when you have a cowl.

Actually, they work quite well and no worse then the WS6 and yes I speak from experience lol. They will really start to force feed around 50-60 mph and of course the faster you go, the more power you will make to a certain point. I loved how my SS and my Comp would just pull harder and harder. I will deffinately be getting an SS hood (still have a holley filter and a few other parts) if I keep the 1LE.
