Window tints
Ok, I see some of you guys have tints on the windows. I'm considering getting them - but it doesn't look right unless you do the fronts. I've heard talk of places that will give you 'ticket insurance' on tints. Basically you pay a bit more up front, and they'll remove it to clear the 'fix-it' ticket if you get one, then replace the tint when you bring it back in. Anybody know more about how it works and have anyplace they'd recommend for tints?
Dan

How much are you willing to pay for tins some places can be expensive. There is a place on 23 mile and hayes called darkside they are a lil expensive but they do good work and i believe they offer the tint removal for tickets. Then there is another place on gratiot and 13 mile called Detroit custom graphics or something they are a lil cheaper but then again im not sure about the tint removal with them. If you're worried about getting a ticket then just get 35% tint on the sides. Thats what I did and i haven't had a problem. I also drive my car during the warm months also so the window is down most of the time.

Heres an even easier and better idea. Befriend your opthamologist and make him write a letter/note/perscription whatever saying that you a required to have window tint on your vehicle because light combined with eye strain produces debilitating migraines while driving. Thus where it says restrictions on your drivers license they put a little letter or word denoting that window tint is applicable on any vehicle you are driving, thus when you get pulled over for having illegally dark ass tint then you dont even get as far as the ticket writing process. Im getting it done as soon as i get some cash, my dad happens to be good friends with our opthamologist.

Dan...I have tints on my GTO...16% Titanium on eveything but the windsheild, and it looks really nice. There is a place down here that does great work. The guy has at least 20 years experience, and my car was his second GTO, so he does know exactly what he's doing on our cars. The place is called Armor Glass Coatings in Royal Oak (not sure if thats too far of a drive for you). Phone # is: 248-435-3456 if you wanna give him a call. Price for everything ended up being $254....But im not sure if he does the ticket removal/re-install thing, But I can tell you that I have never had a problem yet in this car or my old SS.
Also, your more than welcome to come by and take a look at my car anytime.

whats even sweeter is putting limo 5% over factory tint, lol.
Another thing, theres a company out there selling pre-tinted windows, like actual glass and all but with factory style tint. (Like what you would get rolling off the lot on your back windows usually) but you can order them "tinted any depth" and all you have to do is remove your old glass and install the new glass, not applicable for windshields though i dont think. Wouldnt that be interesting to have 2 sets of glass for your car? when you get a ticket swap them out for the fix-it.
ill get some more info, my buddy knows all about it.

What kind of ticket do you get if you get caught with them... I think i could easily get a note for my eyes because i really am a little photosensitive. You guys mentioned it's a fix it. How does that work... Do you have to pay anything or show anyone anywhere if you fix it? Can you just redo it after and hope not to get caught again? Im kind of worried about getting an excessive noise ticket but i heard thats a fix-it as well. I figured if i get one, i could just shut the cutout and have it looked at and then reopen it when im done.
