5.0 question...

I plan on puttng a Ford Racing E303 cam(.498"lift, 220 at .050" duration) into my motor...along with converting it to MAF and putting on GT40 heads. :smt023

my question is this:
Can you put on 1.7 Roller Rockers with a E303 cam and not have piston/valve clearance issues?(total lift would equal .528")

Don't remember the specs, but you can check by using a small amount of clay on the pistos, where the valve cut-outs are, than install the heads (lay the gasket out and bolt them on tight) and with a cheater bar hooked up to the crank pullie bolt, turn the motor at least one complete revolution. Than remove the heads and check the pistons. It may seem to be a PITA, but it's the best way and next to only way to find out for sure.

Hope this helps ya some.

If these are the "regular" cast iron GT40 heads with 64cc chambers, then yes, you can run the E cam and the 1.7 rockers. If you are running the aluminum turbo swirl GT40s, make sure you have the 64cc heads as they also come with the higher compression 58cc chambers (which will require the use of the 1.6 rockers).

It's still a good idea to run them thru witht the clay on the pistons. just to make 110% sure about the clearance. I would never really go by what the spec says (not that I don't believe them). I just prefer to see for myself that there is enough clearance and, either way, you don't have to worry about bending or breaking the valves.

I would also suggest valve girdles. They'll help keep the valve train from flexing and bending your valves.

Hopefully that picture worked, otherwise I'll get another one later for you.
