windsor parts are not hard to find, from what i heard. thats why alot of people use them, that and they are easier to work on and put in cars than a cleveland.

a simple re-assurence check is to go to www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com or google ford 351 windsor... you will be very happy with the results....

windsor is a very popular and abundant motor...

if you had said that you had a 351C or M, then you are into a different ball game....

good luck with your project...

Well first things first, if this is your first engine rebuild, make sure you got tools. Accurate measuring tools, inside/outside calipers for bore, etc.......

Then get a motor manual for your year 351W. This will give you all the specs for a rebuild so you can make sure you get it all right putting it back together.

From there on out you got plenty of options for performance parts, start with jegs and summit, branch out from there based of what you hear is good on forums or have read in tech articles in magazines, etc.

Motors are really really cool especially car motors. Youll have a blast but again its not something that is financially worth screwing up just to learn.

I dont know what your experience is with motors, but before you do a rebuild read a lot more until you feel confident you can take on the challenge. lotta measurements need to be done and a couple specialty tools need (ie. ever remove a cam bearing?)

Good Luck!

no confidence.

Well when i was a wee lad of oh say 5-9 my moms ex hubby (hubby at the time) was building a superbee. he took a 451 and did some really nasty mods. the car was pushin 800something HP. and enough torqe to blow a tire if he wasnt careful off the line. i helped take stuff appart (as a young boy it comes naturally) but he never let me help him put it together.

After that i kinda built a motor scooter engine. and um thats my exp with engines. i grew up w/o a dad so i got to learn to crochet and xstitch and crap like that. nothing worth learning. so i kinda got into skateboarding. my passion is my car right now. and id love to be able to go to a shop and learn a hting or 2. but no one in fresno willing to let me :( blows

yeah thats a bummer, our high school here had an auto shop so i learned everything basic i needed to know.

Dont worry theres still hope! All you need to do is read and ask questions, i suppose we can start with what you need to know about your motor.

Do you know if the motor is the original motor? Do you know where the casting number is and how to find it (actually this is usually a pain in the ass) Then you can get a book on rebuilding your motor for its year.

Its ok, casting numbers on blocks are a pain in the ass but since its all original you can use the VIN number to find out what exactly the motor it is that your working with.

All you really gotta do is put it into google and youll get a bunch of hits on VIN ids
