Problem!!!

my car wont start. its a 1978 King Cobra with a 1993 mustang cobra engine and supposedly a muncie 5 speed transmission, but i dont know. i think its in the wiring, but the guy i bought it from did such a shotty job AND i am 100% wiring stupid.

here are the things i think could help more:

my car had rusted through floorboards so i fixed them. under the carpet of the drivers side, there was taped up wires cutting across under the pedals, to a hole on the front lower left side of where the transmission goes. there, some wires had been dragging on the ground, so since i had thr carpet up, i pulled the wires off the ground. i fixed the hole and did not put the carpet back, but now when i go to start it, instead of even attempting to turn over, it does not just sit there, but makes a snapping noise. i suspect it is coming from the starter, but what do i know, im only 16 and have very limited knowledge of engines. any bit of help would be appreciated.

Phew..Yep.. I feel the same way about electrical issues. Im currently doing a complete underhood engine bay detail job on my personal 85 Mustang vert. Im removing all engine bay wiring and hiding them in the fenderwell then sealing all the stamped holes on the inner fenders and painting.scary when I had a ball of wires hanging everywhere..

Good luck.

There are a lot of us who are intimidated when it comes to the wiring on our cars. The best thing that you can do when making any changes when you unplug anything that will remain unplugged overnight or longer is to take a piece of tape and a maker so you can label where it went.

Even the best wiring guys make mistakes and the ones who make the fewest when overhauling the wiring are those who label EVERYTHING.

If you really want scary, try pulling all the wiring and starting from scratch! we pulled 90% of the wiring and then went to work on the body for a couple of months (saturdays only) and then went back to re-wiring the car. Labels on everything helped, we still had a few mistakes but a $1 roll of tape and a $1 marker saved our butts big time.

Don't be afraid of the electrical - just deal with it one plug at a time and one circut at a time.

lmao that reminds me of when I hooked my Firebird up, put rims exhaust, ram air hood all sorts of fun stuff. Went to my old job where people said Id never get a Formula, then they all saw me and were like :o then I get back in my car and it doesnt wanna start :|. I had no idea what was wrong, till I saw a loose battery cable.
