EEC IV

got a new computer for my mustang and the computer says EEC IV on it but how do i tell if it was from a mass air car or a speed density car? or dose it not matter?
the car i have now is a mass air car, but theres something wrong with the computer :( so i got this computer cheep hopping to fix it

why is it dead ? i mean id like to know but i guess i can just plug it in and see if the car runs?

Well I would think the only way to know is to plug it in and see if it runs. Not hard to get to in those cars at all. I used to know what years were mass air and not. EEC 5 on there is just designating the software that Ford used in that era for ODB1. With it being that, I would assume that it is for Mass air tho.

EDIT: There might be some sort of serial number or part number on the ECM, that you could call a Ford dealer on and see what year car it was from, or see what part number your year car calls for.

I think it was around '87 when Ford switched from speed density to mass air. I could be wrong.
