Thanks. I talked to daryl and got my chairs.

Now all I need to do is deal with this damn ticket. 12 years without a citation until getting popped for drag racing friday. Not smart. Fun....but not smart.

Anyway, it won't keep me down. I'll see you folks again next time around!

Mike -

Sorry to hear 'bout the tik - that's a bummer!

(knocks on wood) It's been the same for me; was 1994 when I was popped for speeding on 1-75 north of Gaylord. I'd like to keep it thataway.

Lately, I've noticed LEO's have been 'targeting' some of the regulars. Normally, I do a loop to get a feel as to where the LEO's are hangin' out - then if I spot someone I wanna run, I know where they can be taken on while minimizing chances of getting pulled over. The last few times I've done the recon loop, I've picked up tails - LEO hangin' a discreet 20 lengths back and a lane or two over. I just head for the barn after that...

I've seen you out there more than once - if I can spot the whistlin' Merc, then there's a pretty good chance the LEO's can, too.

They're getting tricker. Some things I've noticed:

1) Royal Oak troopers are running a transparent LED lightbar that looks all the world like a bike rack - until they flip the lights on. Buggers.

2) Rather than hang out in a parking lot on the side of the Street, they're sitting deep on side streets, and then pulling out when a target car goes by. I think this is how Max picked up tails the last couplea times.

3) B'ham police are using SUV's to pop runners. They're real dark blue with discreet markings. They're harder to spot in traffic, too.

4) Bloomfield hills cops are doing the deep side street thingie, too. Fortunately - there are fewer side streets up north.

Do be careful, guys.

St Clair Shores cops have the same sneaky LED light bar. Its soo hard picking them out, at night, while they are behind you.

If they're right behind you - it's usually too late.

If not - the pusher bar causes an odd light pattern - the area between the headlights is darker than usual. I was being ridden hard by a cop once who wanted me to speed up in a 30 MPH zone so's he could pop me. I saw the pusher bar litesig, so I ran at 29 MPH. He got close enough that his lites disappeared - a normal driver would have sped up to increase distance, which would have been all the reason he needed to pull me over. I didn't, and after about a mile of ridin', he got frustrated and peeled off down a side street.

Litesigs. They can save your bacon!

Next time, call the cops and tell them an officer is currently harrasing you which is a BIG no no. It used to be if they were tailing you for more then 2 miles (I think) it was a legitiment case to bring to court if you have the time and money lol.

Thanks for the condolences and tips.

You know, living right off Woodward all these years, you'd think I would have known better. I rarely, if ever, run someone directly on Woodward. Usually, if someone really wants to run it hard, we'll go off into the weeds some where off the main drag.

Frankly, with all the LEO activity on Woodward during the summer months, running that 'vette was just plain stoopid! Somewhere in the back of my mind I had a little voice telling me I was gonna get caught sooner or later if I kept up the Woodward antics.

(Note to self - don't ignore the liitle voice !!)

So, everyone be real careful out there! There is a ZERO tolerance policy now for Pleasant Ridge, Berkley, Royal Oak, and Birmingham. If you get pulled over while racing its likely you WILL get popped for drag racing.

Worse yet, Drag Racing is now a Class B misdemeanor in Michigan which means you must appear in court where the judges are not sympathetic. The public has brought intense pressure on the LEOs and Courts to curb the Woodward racing. The judges usually will not go easy. So the 4 points is the least of your worries if you're busted with drag racing.

A drag racing traffic misdemeanor conviction will remain on your record for 10 years and is considered a criminal convction now. Yep...its right up there with drunk driving now!

Anway, I've become a recent expert in this and have hired an attorney to waive the arraignement and represent me in the pre-trial where we hope to negociate down with the Berkley prosecutor. With a job that wouldn't tolerate a misdemeanor conviction too well, and a family that needs to be taken care of, I had to go with legal representation.

I will say this. Although I know street racing is stupid and not safe...and I know it was my own fault for getting popped....it seems a bit over the top that i have to defend myself as if I was plastered drunk behind the wheel weaving down the road. I'm sure street racing kills people now and then...but based on what I did last Friday night , the punishment hardly fits the crime.

Be safe folks!

2loco and I went through the same shit last year! Was a big pain, we didn't even go over the speed limit! They still called it drag racing. I get a lot of people out there trying to run me, I think they are just plain crazy, not worth all the bullshit you have to go through. It would be simple just putting up a track near us, but that's not the case. They really just want to make money off of us, that is one of the reasons Detroit"being the Motorcity in all" doesn't put up a track. These judges complain how we put other lives in dangers, so on and so on, but the main reason for the horrific punishment is for the cities to make money off of it. The cops get overtime in the court, you end up paying court fees, and paying for whatever law you broke, not to mention the lawyer. Seems to me the law is getting a little corrupt, ^sec) Wacko Jacko getting off n' all !!!!!

We all need to stop putting up with this shit and demand a track to be open in the future. The cops are really just bothering the hell out of me with this shit! They act like we are selling drugs or something :smt120
