My Pop's old ride
My mom was looking through some of the pictures the other night and found one of my dad and his old firebird. This is the only one we have, he didn't keep any . It's a 1968 Alucian Blue Firebird, wish he would of kept it. There's not too many 68 Birds out there with that color. I asked him what's with the donuts? He needs more rubber back there I know he has some a ton of stories about the car, but he never tells me. Prolly want's me to stay out of trouble.

It's got shackles in the rear and sits 2" higher than stock that's why it looks funny Was it a Firebird 400 model ?
`68 is my Favorite year for First Gen Birds.

Yeah, I love that look. Depending what my next car is, if it is a Camaro, I'm going to do the same. I love that lifted look with big tires in the back. Fuckin awesome!!!!
Yep, it was a 400 model. It was one bad ass ride!!!! Wish my dad still had it.
Hopefully I can get his ass out this year. He actually plans on getting the new camaro when it comes out, he loves the concept!!!

Im a huge fan of rake. I have stock leaf springs, and was thinking of getting a good four inches of rake on the rear, but I didnt because its counter productive to performance isnt it? I know that it kinda messes up your handling, but doesnt it also make it harder for the tires to hook up when you accelerate?

Yeah, I've heard that, I only go to the track about once a year so I'm not too worried about performance. I love the look and plan on doing it to my next car most definately

yeah, I keep thinking about it myself. You never see cars with rake anymore. I seldom go to the track as well, but I dont think I would be fine with making a mod to my car that would take away from its performance, even if I'm only cruising around town.

I don't know man, if you throw a supercharger or turbo on a LS1 like I might plan to do. And raise the back end, I think you're still going to have one fast car. I think it will affect the older cars more than the new, mainly because the performance on the new cars are better. Comes with technology.
There's a el camino out on Woodward in the spring and summer, smoke's everything. That thing has a bed, tailgate, and prolly weighs a lot. He's got a beast of an engine. Word has it he hasn't lost!!!
I won't do it on my primary car WS.6(wouldn't look as good), might do it on a SS if I get that. All depends though, Mustang might be in my future.
I've seen 98-02 Camaros with raised back end with some big tires and I think it looks sick, that's just me though. I'm kind of an old school kind of guy(I listen to 80s and 70s rock, some people think I'm weird, new generation likes different kind of stuff ), most people like these cars really, really low. I'm not big on that! Might as well put spinners on it!!! Some of them I've seen kind of look like ghetto sleds...
It all depends though, some cars look kind of good low, I just don't like them really low. With the roads over here, you better have full coverage or some major cash if your going to sport the low look. I've seen a lot of cars banged up because they went too low.

Firstly...thank you! What the hells with all these people lowering their cars. I think a little lowering on a third or fourth gen F body looks decent, but seriously. Everyone thinks that by lowering their car, it makes it look better. I'm not a fan. Why not just go the whole nine...drop ure muscle car down so it rides an inch off the ground and while ure at it through a nice big wing on the back and some lambo doors haha. They wanna have their rice and eat it too. What kind of rustang are you thinking of getting? I gotta admit it though, I have a real soft spot for them, especially5.0's and later mustangs. I would definetly go with a supercharger for you car instead of a turbo imo. And lastly, yeah, you can have a real quick car, but it still is counter productive to performance to lift the rear. It may be real fast, but that still doesnt change the fact that it might be even just a little bit quicker without the rake. Although, having my rear jacked up would take a little pressure off me when I'm driving. I'm always stressed about scraping my ladder bars. Its better than it used to be atleast. When I got my car, i could only get two fingers under them. But i put in the stock leaf springs.

Yeah, I noticed your back end does sit a little low, looks good with that year though.
Thinking about buying a newer 05-06 Mustang GT or 01-04 Mach1(I kind of gave up on the 03/04 cobras, price never lowered). I like some of the body modifications you can do to the newer Mustangs.
I kind of have a sweet spot for an 02 SS though, love that back end on'em. This SS for instance is so frickin sexy, I love it!!!! For some reason in my mind this SS really defines what a muscle car is, nowadays the newer mustangs sit low and don't have that powerfull look to them like this car. The Mustangs have more of a cleaner, sleeker look to'em.
I prolly would of went with dumps rather than the 4 pipes out the back, but it still looks good!
