People don't seem to care for American companies anymore, especially if it doesn't affect'em, like this fox sports writer. What a fuck head!!!!

ok I will play the other side. just for fun. Now just to make this clear I love my American cars I have never ever driven anything but American, but the Japanese car company's make a safer cars and they change up the designs of there cars about every 5 years, plus there cars a cheaper to make also. But for the American car company's we don't like to see any new changes if we do that are really minor, some of are cars are not as safe as the Japanese car makers cars and most of the new cars here in American start at or around $17,000. I am not going to lie to you guys, I am looking at leasing a car in the fall and I have been looking at some of the non American car company's. To see what they have to offer me as a maybe a customer I just hope Ford, GM, Chrysler, Will give me a vary good deal on a lease on a car. Alright now I got the ball rolling lets here what you guys have to say.

American cars are every bit as safe as Jap cars. The Windstar got 5 star crash ratings and I know that isn't the only thing that did. It just sticks in my head as having done so because I always joked about that in Gone in 60 Seconds when Angleina Jolie pulls in from of the cops with a Windstar as Nic Cage drives out of the parking garage with Eleanor.

I'm gonna provide a couple different angles on this one. Well, first of all, I think American cars get a really bad rep...for some reason its considered "cool" to bash them as much as possible in the media. I recently read that toyota had to settle a suit with 7 million customers from 97-02 who purchased a Toyota vehicle thats engines sludged due defective engineering (they tried to blame the consumers for poor maintanence which is why it had to go to court). If that had been GM, it would be all over the front page. However, while American cars get an unfair rep, the reality is, and I've read about this in tons of magazines, not just one, that engines in Japanese cars last the longest, followed by European cars, and then American cars in dead last. I have heard some explanations behind this. Despite constant electical issues with European cars (because they keep trying to be on the cutting edge of electonic technology, their engines still have very good longevity, VW put aside). I have heard that the reason why Japanese cars do so great is because the top dogs have a vested interest in making sure their cars perform well because they dont recieve monetary bonuses until years down the line. Where in contrast, American executives recieve benefits that same year, so they have no vested interest in making sure the product lasts a long long time (I'm not sure if this is true, its what I've heard). With all that being said, I buy American cars, not because I think they are the best, but because I like them the most. Also, I used to work at a Toyota dealership, and believe me, they have their own issues...just different ones. I think what Jack said though was great and I support it, because I support our country. But, I think alot of responsibility has to lay on the shoulders of the CEO's for the big three. And while I feel for our country, I'm not going to extend any sympathy to those guys with their 7 figure salaries.

I dunno Ang, there's quite a few American cars that you can get for a cheap price. Like the Aveo and Cobalt. Don't buy into all the hybe in the news and media!!! Saturn makes a good car too, decent price and holds a great value!!! Personally I would never ever buy a foreign car, I like the Porsche, but I would never buy it. I just can't sell out my own Country like that. I've worked hard for my money, there's only a few things Americans make these days, one of them I know I'm always going to buy. Meaning Cars!!!! Think about it, we buy tons of Japanese and Chinese crap: Game systems, computres, printers, tons of electronics... Lets try to keep some stuff going in this country. If we all give in, there's going to be less paying jobs more and more these days. Foreigners don't pay there workers shit!!!!! Why do you think they come here!!!! I mean look at what's happening now in Michigan already!!! Our generation can't make more that $13 an hour unless you have a degree. I mean I'm glad I'm safe, but for those other people who can't afford a degree or don't plan on going to school are pritty much screwed unless they have connections. Americans these days really have to think things threw, every choice you make affects your future, remember that!!!!!

I didn't really explain the process how low paying jobs happen when more foreigners come here and outsourcing begins, shit I don't have to. It's already affecting us and people should now this anyway.

Asked for my opinion, I gave it

I applaud your opinion. Globalization is good to a degree, but we do need to keep some production in the US instead of importing everything. I really hate outsourcing, it makes me sick. But the good news is, I was reading an article in the paper and where someone was saying that some companies are turning away from outsourcing because they are finding out that it doesnt produce the gains they were expecting. One thing though, is that "buying American" just doesnt apply to cars. Meaning, I'll go to a local store often over a large chain. Especially if its a Walmart. Walmart takes advantage of their employees to rediculous amounts...giving them just under the required amount of hours to recieve health and dental benefits, just to name one thing. I will never support that kind of business. Besides, Target isnt that much more expensive, especially since it gives me piece of mind. My point is I guess, supporting American production and its workers doesnt just apply to the auto industry. There are other ways people can help.
