Modular ford VS LS1 Gm powerplants.

It's tough to compare the two because the displacements are so different.
The best way to Compare them would be to use the 2 closest displacements
GM 5.3 326 ci and Ford 5.4 330 ci. Then you would have to build the ultimate of each using Factory parts.
Try running this senario by Hot Rod or Car Craft maybe they will put up the cash to do a real Comparison. Otherwise if you use the current available displacements the GM LS1 has the advantage.
Ofcourse both Engine Families have over 10 yrs of Engine development behind them now. Few Know what the Future will Bring.

Well I heard those 4.6L cobra's can get 20psi compare to LS1. It has to do with the ford cast iron and Chevy aluminum engine. My question is can one over due the other when push to the limit in modding.

I've seen old stock 6.0 truck motors pushing 700 HP. The Terminator 4.6's handled lots of power stock. The GT's 5.4 handles lots of power stock. I don't think anyone has pushed a GT500 really to know what it will hold. The Lightnings had shitty rods and really don't take that much power. The N/A engines all have shitty pistons and don't take much power.

I know old 6.0L GM truck motors will take 700 HP without a problem though.

the only way the new fords make any power is supercharged...and if you start pushing the boost up, the pin has been pulled !!!! the LS engines are tuff to beat...ZO6=505hp no blower, 28 mpg....unreal...fords will make good power with lots of boost..for a little while...

And with the word on the street that the Camaro might be getting the LS7 option and maybe a blower option for the LS2. Dunno how Ford is going to be able to keep up with that.....

Terminator is my Favorite Ford by far, should be more mustangs like this. Car is one bad mutha, problem is it's ford's only car that can produce some awesome horsepower without putting some major money into the block. Throw a cam and heads in the LS1 stock, going to have some serious power. I think GM has better engineering, but I still love Ford for it's styling. I will never say Ford is a bad company, just wish they would produce some better cars like the Terminator.
