this is literally a rocket motor runnin' rocket fuel - the rocket motor spins a turbocharger which is then coupled to a gear reducing unit which then bolts directly to the differential on yer car - adding ass-piles of HP directly to the pavement.

The fuel these things used was EXTREMELY volatile - the modern equivalent of nitroglycerin. You need special permits to handle it these days - it's that dangerous.
Peep the gallery shots - there's a nearly bone-stock VW bug they yanked the motor outta, added a Turbonique, and managed to click off a bunch of 9 second passes...they were bummbed they couldn't get enough traction to get it into the eights!!!
