Buddy laid down his bike

He moved to Arizona about a month or so ago from Nebraska. He was wearing full gear. Riding hard. Sounds like he was going pretty fast, came into a turn low so he couldn't apex it right and said he went off the road about 3/4ths of the way around the trun. He was mostly ok. You can see the injuries. Weird how he has a skinned up shoulder but the jacket is fine. Broken finger and a concussion were the most serious injuries. The guy is a real good rider, everyone makes mistakes though. Be careful out there guys.

That was some GOOD gear!

After seeing the pic of that helmet.. why would you NOT wear one?!?!?! if it can scrape the helmet like that.. i cant imagine what it would do to your face.

its not uncommon to get a burn or scraped up fromt the rubbing of the jacket on your body in an accident. Better then rubbin gravel though.

Same has happened to a ton of people i know. You see yourself not turning tight enough, you kinda freak out and end up goin off the road. All ya gotta do in the heat of the moment is push harder into the handle bars and get your ass over and lean even more. Kinda easier said then done in that situation...

When you done overcooked it, it's better to lay the bike down and try to surf it - I've saved my butt a couplea times doin' that.

Layin' it down beats highsiding every time. I've only highsided once; it's not something you wanna do. One minit the bike is there; the next minit you're 10-15 feet in the air wondering how hard the hit is gonna be. If you've overcooked the turn there's always the danger that front tire is gonna dig in as it leaves the street...If you can get the tire off the tarmac B4 you start turf-surfin...you stand a better chance of leavin' the scene intact and conscious.

Bikes are repairable; folks aren't as easily fixed. My back reminded me this weekend when the disc between the shoulder blades (bike injury) flared up. I don't grind the pegs like I usedta as a result - can't afford another highside.

that or we can save the knee dragging for the track... tracks have less obsticles to hit and you can run off turn into grass and gravel not trees and signs
