another recall...

This time its for the Sky/Solstice with auto tranny's, but its more of a silent recall that we are supposed to check every car for when its in for service, not being called back

This bulletin provides a service procedure to inspect and, if necessary, replace the automatic transmission in certain 2006 model year Pontiac Solstice and 2007 model year Saturn Sky vehicles. This action is required due to possible water ingestion into the automatic transmission, which could potentially lead to degradation of transmission performance.

This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealership/retailer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer/retailer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period, but no later than August 31, 2006, at which time this bulletin will expire.

Also the new tranny's have a differant vent loacation and you have to modify the hoses. SI shows you all the shit thats gotta be done

• If the transmission oil color is pink (like Pepto-Bismol®), the fluid has been contaminated and a transmission replacement is required. The transmission cooler and lines must be flushed prior to installing the new transmission. Refer to the section below titled, Transmission Replacement Information.

• If the transmission oil color is red, the transmission oil is normal and has not been contaminated. Torque the transmission fluid drain plug to 20 N·m(15 lb ft). Refer to the section below titled, Vehicle Passes Transmission Fluid Test.

We did one today and it was fine...

so not so much a recall, just a TSB, right? If you look in any factory service manual for a platform that has been out a while you will find problaby a hundred stickers referrencing TSB's for random things bigger than this to things like an adjustment in the procedure to do a certain thing on the car.

It was under the campaign categories of the SI site. and those are usually referred to as recalls.

Plus my service manager was told it is a silent recall so GM isnt getting bad press about it, cuz no one will kno about it

thats why you dont buy the first model year... they need time to work out issues and this isnt anything out of the norm... electrical problems are just one thing that gets worked out...

the manual tranny's also have a problem, they loosen up or sumthin and after about 500 miles or so they start to clunk at low speeds when pushing the clutch in and out, like in parking lot manuevers.

They also have some fitment problems, weve had a cple now the trunks interfere with the rear bumper cover when opening scratching and bending panels.

That's really sad to hear even if it s just a bulliten. That's what they get for bragging about getting things to production so quickly. Nothing major at least.
