New name for Blue Devil?

http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-new...y-ar10220.html

http://news.windingroad.com/?p=155

The new Corvette Blue Devil is no longer going to have this name, but it will go on production with the name of Sting Ray. It will be priced at $100,000 and will feature a 7.0 liter V8 engine delivering around 600 hp. The new model will go on sale early 2007.

Autoweek reports that the rumored super Corvette (besting even the Corvette Z06, by adding a supercharger to the 7.0-liter V-8 to create something in the area of 600+ horsepower, which would appear to be the next battleground area given the recent reports of the 2008 Viper and it’s McLaren-tuned engine) will get the hallowed “Sting Ray” name if and when it comes to market. Autoweek’s sources have indicated that the name will indeed be something with a connection to Corvette lore–but “Sting Ray” might not be the only one. Originally the name of the top-secret project was “Blue Devil,” in order to get the attention of GM CEO and Duke University grad Rick Wagoner. Contrary to Autoweek’s report, there are a few people at GM who believe the “Mako Shark” name might be the right fit for the forthcoming super car from Chevrolet.

I will rewrite and post the actual specs as soon as they anounce they are going to build it. Dad keeps hearing and seeing them tear ass around the tech center. I can say it is 650 hp, and around 575 ft lbs in a 2900 lb car. That much has been leaked several times and it is correct. Yup, a new breed of car for the money. Very little will touch this car stock and for the money, nothing will.

This is true if they keep the price down. Seeing that McLaren is doing them and it isn't that much lighter, I doubt it but good luck to em.

I don't see this new Corvette SS/Blue Devil/Sting Ray being under $100K. Hell, the XLR-V retails for six figures :smt025
