Hmmm, intersting take. Lemme just say this tho if I may. These "mailroom" people...how much should one make to sort and deliver mail? How many student loans are they paying off from this highly skilled and educated position? Is "mailroom" a Bachelors or Masters degree? I mean over half of the people on this board alone have a degree. Why? Because they did not want to work in the mail room for $15,000 a year. (If this is an actual figure) We have different classes in our society that is just the way it is. We cannot all be equal. Hell I have worked for many places where what we manufactured/sold.....I most certainly could not afford. Is that fair? DAMN STRAIGHT IT IS! If the company goes out of business sure your on the street looking for work and moving on,....the owner is left with debts that he still has to pay PLUS find another business/work. I'm most certainly not saying "boo-hoo' for the owner Im just stating there are two sides to every situation. The owner took the risk, the bigger the risk the bigger the reward dont you think? I mean I most certainly do not want to go into busness to have my workers who risked nothing but a afternoon filling out applications, making as much or close to as much as me? In fact, I just heard something that is pretty cool, "Risk is the price you pay for opportunity"
I just feel this, if you want to work in the mailroom, make $15k a year and go home to your singlewide in lot 26 everynite and you are happy....Good for you! But you need to understand you cannot afford everything that life has to offer then. You will not have a 61" Plasma, a BMW, or a backyard swimming pool. (Some people are very happy with this, btw) We are not "Entitled" just because this is "America, The Land of Opportunity" You still have to work your ass off for it! If your not happy, then get your butt up, pull yourself up by your own boot straps and get a better education to get a better job. This is the USA you can do whatever you want, if you want it bad enough. jmho

If we overpaid every retail / service employee, like gas station attendants or the 15 year olds behind the counter at McDonald's, it would drive operation costs even higher and ultimately impact the consumers. That's basic economics.
What would you pay the "lower class" workers? Would you be willing to see the cost of goods go up simply so they can have a bigger number on their income, even though it won't mean anything if the standard of living goes up as well?
Their jobs are not fun and not always easy but they're not skilled jobs either.

So let me understand this , You and me can afford these ass poundinng prices, so it's ok if every single CEO or person in management or person that can afford it "MILKS "people under them till there dead. And if they can make it... good , and if a wife or family has a problem or a storm kills there business and a "CEO" at a insurance company say's "to bad " then you people just don't give a damm ? And I guess you people don't beleive in hiring up and company loyolty . Yes , if I get a better contract to hirer ,every one else shoulden't get the same just because. But damm dudes , What you guys are saying to me is just like locking your car door when a black guy walks by. By the way all of you people, more money does not mean the person is better , I'm shure you rich guy's have lost a drag race to the crew member "A LOT", and I'm shure some of your mid priced pony cars can bet a $150,000.00 dollor sports car easy . And by the way, who here dosn't think the USA shouldnt be treated better then any one else ? We are the leaders of the world ....DAMMM IT.

Nope, did not say that at all. The market place dictates price, always has. Simple "Supply and Demand" Econ 101 brotha'

Don't get me going on Ins. Co's that is a whole nother ball of wax. All I can say is Ins. Co's = Business. Ergo in business to make money not pay it out. AKA: "Necessary Evil"

Not even close.....Now you're gonna make it a race issue? Not judging on looks/race/color/creed. Judging soley on who is better educated for a certain position is all.

Nope....again not better as a person. Just a better education which equals a better paying job in a "free market" society.

Ohh and btw, I have a question......How long do you think a corporation can make it if they "squash and shit on thier employees?" If the employees cannot afford to go to work, they will move on and up. And as a follow-up, "How long can they (corporations) make it when they *outprice* themselves in the marketplace?" In other words we go back to "supply and demand" (supply low + demand high = More they can charge for a certain product/service. Supply high + demand low = less they can charge or they lose out on sales to competition) High price does not equal high value everytime.

Gas is something that is needed , it's in a class with electicity and water . Every company including the one I'm starting needs supplies ,and those companys put gas in there trucks and pass the price to me . And I do many appoligies for the comment about the door locks. But just because someone is in a different class does'nt mean they can't go to a car lovers club. And I do have a friend that is going to college and works in a mail room. It's not about school, most of the really rich people say and tell me that, it's about business sence . And just for the record , I get paid more then the college students because of what I know . Bill Gates didn't finsh college, Don King got a loan for a "BILLION DOLLARS" and payed it back quick, I'm sorry, how many "years" did he go to college????

Ok, so just a real quick reply to the Bill Gates comment, no he did not graduate, nor Don King...however, do you think that they are complaining about gas prices? HELL NO! They probably have oil stocks!!! :h Again mailroom personnel let's see, is this a college summer position, or a career? Big difference!!
And as far as Gas, Electricity, and Water being necessities......sorry wrong! I have some Amish neighbors that would disagree with you except for the water of course. It is a lifestyle choice that we make, of our own God given free will!
So ok, back to topic....here are some other record profit making (or close to) companies of 2005 and 2004. I say we cap them as well!!!

http://www.upsidesoft.com/Upside+Sof...s/About+Us.htm
http://www.smh.com.au/news/Business/...958157488.html
I did not have time to google the record losing companies but, I still think to balance we should cap the loss too. I mean hey, we can't say "you can only make "X" amount in profit but when it comes to a loss......Lose your ass away!!!" Let us not forget either, these record profits from the "Evil Villianess Corporate Mongers" equate to A LOT of taxes also being paid to our Federal Gov't! Which pays for alot of "social" programs for the underprivlaged! Ohhhh, including "ENVIRONMENTAL" issues!!
Ohhh and as a caviat...here is a link for all you Tree Huggers out there!!! :h Because I am balanced as well!! :smt025
