Worst BRAKES ever award!

So the cavalier was due for some new brakes and i finally found some time and the weather was decent. Went to advance autoparts got new pads and rotors... Well today made me realize how nice it is to have a cavalier.

Rotors $13 each
Pads $30

Well i knew they were bad.... just how bad amazed me!!

Oh and did i mention i love PB Blaster... lol!! After the bolts broke loose the job only took a few mins. It was a fun sunday afternoon project.. i just thought i'd share my wonderful discovery.

Ya I think me and brad workin in a dealer have def seen worse.

in hs shop tho our plow truck wore thru the pads and the smooth part of the rotor, so the fins were exposed and the caliper piston was stopping the truck, not the pads which were non existint.

and yes gotta love the weekend projects with the use of PB blaster lol :smt048

ive seen that before on a 91 plymouth laser on the rear brakes, in fact it seized the caliper onto the rotor 1/8" deep into the surface of the rotor, i had to grind down the rotor to get the whole thing apart, it was ugly, but at least i got paid for it.

someone on TCCOA posted some pics once of rotors worn down to the fins too. Scary stuff, I mena to think someone out there is driving around like that and could be right behind you the next time you have to stop fast.
