I-696 to Close over the Weekend

March 31, 2006

A road construction project will close down I-696 in the Southfield area over the weekend.

The orange barrels will come out Friday night, as the massive "mixing bowl" project gets underway.

Nine miles of I-696, between M-5 and the Lodge, will be shut down from 11 p.m. Friday until morning rush hour Monday.

Crews are scheduled to knock down the Franklin Bridge.

What we are doing:
More than three miles of freeway reconstruction on M-10, between Beck Road and Lahser Road, in the city of Southfield. Bridge replacement and interchange construction on I-696 at Franklin Road in the city of Southfield.

Time span:
Spring 2006 - Summer 2007

Everywhere I went last summer out of state was 696 to M-14. Both those fucking roads are under construction this year :smt071 Looks like I'll be rocking 75 straight to 94 all summer.
