Built to last, Duralast!
Ok listen to this we todd ed shit.
I needed an oil change and a new air filter for my jeep. So I went on over to Autozone on gratiot and 16 mile because it was close to harbor freight where I needed to get some sandpaper. Anyways i get my happy oil and my happy oil filter. I look at the K&Ns and I say to myself "$50, not today." So I look for some other air filters, maybe an AC delco or ANYTHING! To my despair what do I see? Duralast, nothing but duralast, an entire wall full of the crap. Well, my cars air filter is black so anything is better than what was currently in there. I buy the duralast filter. I talk to the chick behind the counter and shes like yeah its our signature brand of parts, kinda like sears has craftsman. Bummer.
Anybody have any prior experience with this brand of shit? Personally the commercials look ghey, sound ghey, and the parts look like they will brake in five minutes.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Confused, What do you mean? is it because im not looking for performance that duralas will suit my needs? If so agreed but i am concerned about critters getting into my motor if the filter sucks you know?
I just dont get it, Autozone is scratched off my list now because they dont carry anything else except for duralast. Ive heard people dont like Murrays very much. What about pepboys? Are there any good stores people go to?
What stores does everyone go to for their parts!?

Ugh the 3rd gen gets enough of my money. :smt078
I dunno, my jeep gets some abuse so I tend to wanna put quality components/fluids in it. I will stick with what i know works, regardless of price, though im partial to finding sales. :smt048

They are not that bad, i mean the stock one was probably equally as bad. What do you quantify as a bad filter? Lose 1-2hp? Your already better off than a dirty one. People pay WAAAYY too much attension to air filter flow than the other parts that actaully have a large impact.
If your worried about flow, just get a large cross section filter. Im sure a large Duralast filter will outflow a small K&N.. id bet my car on it.
Its all about the velocity of the air traveling through the filter element, a K$N will flow better for the same size by a small margin, however a large duralast will have much lower velocity for the same CFM of airflow.
The filter element itself is only a small part of the equation, the surface area is the largest variable and the area for greatest improvement.
