if thats the case make a law, that if you have tints you must roll down all of the windows in the car when pulled over. yea the po po's need to be safe but tints are need with all of the suv's head lights that blind the shit outta me cause my car is low.

I am all for it. However, I can see the safety side. You can make any law you want but, if the people do not comply (i.e. do not roll em down) then it doesn't matter. What if they are gangsta' thugs? To them it's just another law to break!

What if thier window motor just went out and they haven't gotton it fixed yet? (F-bod owners know what I'm talkin about) So a cop can draw thier weapon then and take it as a threat? Start firing? Maybe on a mom and her kid?

I dunno, jm .02

I agree this is bullshit, I have tint on my car, and I have been vary lucky that I have no been pulled over for it. Now my bro has had it on all his windows on his truck and got a ticket for it. But where he got his truck tinted he got incurance for $25.00. if he got pulled over thay will take the tint off for free and put it back on when u show that the tint is off your car when u show it to the cops.

It seems the safety issue is not being addressed properly. If the police were concerned with their safety, they would want the back window clear, so they could see in even before the traffic stop. This law seems to just impose harsher penalties for tinting front side windows (which is illegal already). That doesn't make sense. It is just another knee-jerk reaction to show that they did something, even though it does not solve the original concern.

I have tints also, so im not about to play devils advocate here... :h
just roll the windows down if you are stopped by the police. i can see why it would cause an Officer to be very cautious.I have been stopped 3x in one week. luckily i was let off each time, attitude goes a long way. it would be nice to have tint as dark as you would like but thats MI for ya

You guys have an easier tint law than Nebraska and it gets HOTTER there! Every summer we had a good week to two weeks worth of 100+ temps with three months worth of temps in the mid to upper 90's. The law there, nothing on the windshield 35% on the door glass (same as Michigan apparently) and 20% on the back (that said Michigan doesn't limit the back). A friend of mine got ticketed once for 18% on the back measured with the meter, talk about ridiculous. Granted the newly propsed law is ridiculous for sure, but people are complaining about the current law even which is by no means out of line.

Not to say lots of people didn't still roll with dark tint. I know a guy with 20% on the windshield and 5% around the rest. It keeps him from getting pulled over for DWB, lol.

That is NOT the same as Michigan. It is illegal to have ANY tint on the front door glass.

Um...no...

Lt. Gerry Scherlinck of the Troy Police Department said window tint can be up to only 35 percent in terms of darkness on a vehicle's windshield and passenger- and driver-side windows
