LS1 questions

I have read some very good things about the LS1 engine, I have a LT1 that I like very much in my firehawk, how much more does the newer style motor have as far as power and capability?

To be honest it has alot more capability and power....the LT1 is a great engine, dont get me wrong, and you can get alot of power out of them, but it my opinion, its not quite as easy.

My car with basic bolt ons (headers, ect.) and a cam with a tune made 381 to the wheels in 90+ weather....with my TQ being over 300 just about off idle :smt055

Here you go. It is a very generic comparison but It does give HP and TQ comps. I've never driven a LT1 to give you a "sotp" comparison tho. http://www.dw1977.cz28.com/whats_new.html

There is approx a 40-50 HP to rhe ground difference between the two
LT1's have more off idle torque but above 2500 rpm the LS1 is KING
I have owned both and the LT1 was a great performer but it ran out of breath around 5200 while My LS1 screams to 6000. :smt025

yup like he said ^^ i have driven many and i own an LT1...with an easy cam swap and longtubes on an LS1 you can easly make 400 hp. Doing the same with an LT1 will net about 350hp.

The main reason for the power in the LS1 is the design of the heads. They just flow amazing where the Lt1 are constrictive...
